Spring/Summer Transfers

Featured Replies

Just curious as I have no interest at all, but how does a player move from the city school to the county school and be eligible. Must have moved.

No clue at all. I don't have any details on their transfer other than knowing that they have transferred.

Joe Gilbert: Lexington Catholic to West Jessamine

What do you know about him? Looking at stats, he didn't play much last year as a soph.

Only be a freshman but Isiah Hunt is at Lexington Christian from Madisonville. He and Kyle Rode are two of the top four or five freshman in the state.

Shaddai Scott also transferred to LCA from (I believe) Madison Central. Another talented freshman.

Cam Jones - East Jessamine to West Jessamine

Technically there is no such thing as a freshman transfer in the KHSAA. Under KHSAA rules a freshman is allowed to enroll at any school he or she chooses. Transfer rules do not apply until the athlete has played varsity minutes in a sport for a high school.

I must've missed something. I don't see anything about the annual attempted transfers into Scott Co. Who's on this list?

What if in the rare situation they log varsity minutes as an 8th grader? Does that change anything? Just asking because I honestly dont know.

You still have open enrollment into high school of your choice. Transfer rules does not apply until you are enrolled at High School and play varsity sports.

Yes open enrollment is correct but transfer or not kid moves from one school district to another its a transfer.

That's true, but the KHSAA transfer rules don't apply until the student: (1) enrolls at a school as a freshman or higher; and (2) participates in a varsity contest. Thus, even if the student plays a lot of varsity sports while in middle school, the student can go to a high school different from the one for which he or she played while in middle school without implicating the KHSAA transfer rules.

Quentin Snider started 8th grade at Fern Creek, played summer ball with Eastern, then enrolled at Ballard in August.

Yes I know the rule, im just stating a transfer not talking about the rule or technicalities. I see nothing wrong with transfers, if they are ruled eligible by KHSAA then let them be. People transfer jobs people transfer schools.

He also played 7th grade with Jeffersontown.
