June 9, 201511 yr I'm in...that looks pretty good. Sorta looks like...2001: Space Odyssey meets Castaway meets Mythbusters

June 9, 201511 yr I'm not one for sci-fi flicks, but this looks interesting. Plus, I love Matt Damon!
June 9, 201511 yr In amongst co-workers right now, so had to have the sound muted...but, just based upon what I saw...definitely looking forward to it!
June 9, 201511 yr Author Re: Sci-Fi. There are no aliens, no magic Warp Drive or Light Speed. Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is an engineer, so it's his ability to improvise realistically with what he has on hand that is so compelling. I'd call it "engineering fiction." Reading the book is like watching Apollo 13 as problem after problem is dealt with. Just judging from the trailer, I expect the movie to be just a gripping.
June 9, 201511 yr Author I'm not one for sci-fi flicks, but this looks interesting. Plus, I love Matt Damon! His character, Mark Watney, has a cynical, sarcastic, Murphy's Law flavor to it, yet he has a tenacious drive to do everything he can to survive. He does have somewhat of a potty mouth (which I usually don't like), but hey, he got marooned on Mars! I'll cut him some slack.
