June 3, 201511 yr 73 at bats, 48 games, over the course of 2 seasons and with 2 different teams. Nowhere near a full season. He's never had a chance to play everyday and rightfully so, but honestly as bad as the Reds are I actually wouldn't mind seeing someone different get an opportunity to play. With a career .298 avg and .370 OBP in the minors I wouldnt mind seeing him finally earn some regular at bats at the ML level. Again unless Price thinks outside the box and tries him in LF it's probably not going to happen anyways. He will spell all four positions in the infield and pinch hit and that's about it. Isn't that Negron's spot on this team? Why 2 guys like that on the bench? I know Negron is struggling and I fully expected more out of him after last season. I can't put my finger on his problem, he isn't striking out at a high rate just not hitting the ball. Maybe more regular ABs might be the answer to him coming out of his funk at the plate.
June 3, 201511 yr Not some guys that aren't really ready. Yorman Rodríguez will come up here and strike out 50% of the time and play every 4th or 5th day. That helps no one. I agree that you can't bring him up and sit him. He would have to play everyday or you'd never get a feel for whether he can handle big league pitching. At some point the Reds need to find out who can and who can't handle it. 7 of their top 30 prospects are OFs.
June 3, 201511 yr Byrd with a fractured wrist. That's probably good news for the Reds. This ensures that his option for next season does not vest.
June 3, 201511 yr He's never been an outfielder so I don't think the power in the outfield part will matter. One of the Reds biggest downfalls is relying on the long ball, I'll take my chances on the guy that can get on base. Skip has 27 HR's in over 3000 big league at bats. He has 25 HR's in over 2500 minor league at bats. Kris Negron has 6 HR's in the bigs all came last year. He's not a HR hitter at all. He has 53 minor league HR's in 3250 minor league at bats. DeJesus has 0 HR's at the major league level with basically nothing but pinch hit appearances. As an everyday player in the minors he has 38 HR's in 3650 minor league at bats. They are all very similar players and none provide much in terms of pop. Negron is a career .246 hitter in the minors with a .323 OBP. Skip is a career .291 hitter in the minors with a .355 OBP. DeJesus has been better than both with as a .298 hitter with a .370 OBP. It's a stupid debate but in no way are Negron or Skip better options because of providing more pop. All 3 of them are bench players and it really doesn't matter. I said that they could run into one occasionally I didn't say that they were mashers and as for the obp numbers DeJesus numbers at the major league level are .254. All three of the other guys are at least .300 obp at the major league level and Skips .338 is higher than Jay Bruce's .324 and Billy Hamilton's .289 so based on that I guess he should be playing over those guys? My point about DeJesus is that he is 28 and has never shown any propensity to hit at the major league level so why add him to this team?

Dominguez is horrible and should be DFA'd, other than him there's Irving Falu (very similar to Dejesus only older) and Jose Constanza who has ML time with the Braves.

June 3, 201511 yr Why don't the Reds have a young slugger like Pederson or this kid from the Rangers stuffed away in the minors just waiting on his chance. Oh, I know, because they only draft pitchers. The forget how easy it is to hit a HR at Great American.
June 3, 201511 yr I'd hate to do anything to jeopardize Todd Frazier's season, but the other options are extremely underwhelming. How about moving Suarez up to 3rd base & Frazier to LF?
June 3, 201511 yr I'd hate to do anything to jeopardize Todd Frazier's season, but the other options are extremely underwhelming. How about moving Suarez up to 3rd base & Frazier to LF? Suarez has played 30 games in the outfield in the minors. Why move Frazier instead of Suarez?
June 3, 201511 yr Suarez has played 30 games in the outfield in the minors. Why move Frazier instead of Suarez? Cool, I didn't look it up - put Suarez in LF.
June 4, 201511 yr Reds wonder why they never win in Philly. Leave runners on inning after inning and Frazier takes one right down the middle with runners on second and third. LOSERS!!!
