June 6, 201511 yr The Dance - Garth What a Wonderful World- Louis Armstrong (my grandfather that passed away a couple years back. His favorite song) Already been said a number of times, but "Go Rest High On That Mountain" is a definite.
June 10, 201511 yr This got me a couple of days ago. Johnny Carson's favorite song being played right after he had passed away, by his great friends Doc Severinsen & Tommy Newsome. And it's such a sad song to begin with.
June 10, 201511 yr Possibly a bit stylishly old fashioned for some, this gem "There But For You Go I" from the 1954 film version of Lerner & Loewe's Brigadoon starring Gene Kelly lyrically captures the very timeless feeling and mood many might be able to relate to, to being in such awe of, and thankful for the love in their life that makes all the difference in the world in them having a joyous life, versus being sadly alone. Many have recorded this over the years, and some like Frank Sinatra have done fine respectable jobs with it, but none in my mind have come anywhere near close to Gene Kelly with his moving tone of vulnerability, humble reverence, and complete thankfulness that he brings to it. His vocal approach to the song may not indicate singing perfection, but the raspy weakness of it just makes it all the more endearing and on target with the sentiment of the song.
June 11, 201511 yr Cats in the Cradle - Harry Chapin There are a lot of Harry Chapin songs, most never heard on the radio, that tung at the heart strings. Two that come to mind are "A Better Place To Be" and "Mr. Tanner".

June 11, 201511 yr Lacey Brown is a an Amarillo, Texas born singer who is the daughter of a Christian Church pastor. She was on the 9th season of American Idol in 2010, and ended up a 12th place finalist. Personally I liked her a lot, and was pulling for her, and was stunned when she was voted off that early in the contest because in my mind she was worthy of winning the whole thing. I find her to be an appealing gifted singer that's easily likable both in talent, and personality. I was hoping that her career would take off after Idol, and although she did release a 5 song EP in 2011 that gained little attention, I still have enjoyed listening to whatever I can find on Youtube of her performing. I came across her singing this Inspirational Christian song "The More I Seek You", that I've never heard of before, and couldn't help but to be moved by her performance of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HXboWgg2Ws
June 11, 201511 yr Songs don't choke me up from an emotional standpoint. I sometimes get close when something is simply (to me) sublime. For example, probably my favorite music was written nearly 300 years ago (I am an old fogey, after all).

June 11, 201511 yr Lost my mom last year. We have a songwriters festival here in Henderson and I heard Thats what Mamas do by Jason Matthews. I had this played at moms funeral. Everytime I hear it, it gets me.
