Time for Reds to part with Price

Featured Replies

I couldn't take the Reds anymore and switched to the Duggars. Now I don't even have that.

, yeah, that was interesting to hear about this week.

Firing Price doesnt fix anything. Either fire the players that suck, (which might be all but 2 on this team) or fire the ownership that put this team together.

Disagree. The biggest mistake the Reds could've made was by staying within their system and hiring Price. All they got was Dusty Light out of the deal.

Granted, Price has been handicapped by personnel situations that he has no control over. But even if this Reds team was a playoff-ready bunch, it would still be lacking because this organization has nobody to crack the whip.

When your best player is quiet, reserved and goes out of his way to avoid the spotlight that comes with the trappings of a $225 million contract, there better be a Scott Rolen-type on the roster to kick butt and be a leader. If there isn't one, then that falls on the manager, and neither Dusty nor Dusty Light is capable of that, because they're the buddy-buddy type manager. This team needed a disciplinarian when Rolen retired.

I Couldn't agree more. Well said :thumb:.

Thanks. I have my moments. I didn't feel totally right weighing in on the Reds since I've not been paying much attention to them lately as work has kept me occupied. But the problems I detailed have been going on for half a decade. I feel I've paid enough cumulative attention to pick up on those obvious facts.

Many on twitter are saying he is gone soon.

$38 Million or about a third of the total payroll this season goes to Votto, Bruce and Phillips

Reds are currently 27th in runs scored and 26th in team ERA with the 13th highest payroll.

Add $10M for Bailey, $6.5M for Marshall, $3.5M for Parra and the following $ to folks who aren't even on the team - $4.5M Ludwick, $2M Hannahan (who still has yet to hit a ball hard in a Reds uniform), $1.5M for Gregg and $1.85M to LeCure in Louisville who still can't break glass with his fastball. TOTAL? Almost $30M!!!

I don't think Price is even on the top 10 list of things wrong with the franchise, but do get the sense he's in over his head. Tough spot to be in...

How long will it take for the Reds organization to recover from this mess? Separate thread?

Marshall might pitch..............in September.

Not that long if they do it right.

Isn't Riggleman the 3rd base coach? He's had a great record as a manager. :sarcastic:

I hope you are right, but how many years are we talking here?
