I don't think they found the "smoking gun" in the Hernandez trial and they convicted him. As far as I know, they still haven't found a gun.

When we have grievances go to arbitration the union and the company have to agree on the arbitrator that hears the case. Seems like it would be pointless if the company was allowed to pick the arbitrator.

At this point it really doesn't matter if Brady wins his appeal or not. He has already been labeled a cheater and that will stick with him forever just like it has with Belichick. The entire Patriots Organization has been caught numerous times and will never shake that stigma of being cheaters.

 

The best thing Brady could have done is cooperate with the investigation from day 1 like he and Robert Kraft said they would do. Instead he chose not to and has been busted. An arbitrator will not be able to prove he didn't cheat, all he will do is see if the punishment is appropriate or not.

Actually they did. Also there are now reports that he has had the equipment guys cheat for him going back to 2004.

 

Please explain to me, how and why do you think equipment guys would risk there jobs etc. by letting air out of the footballs all on theri own? With no instruction from the QB who inspects the footballs before the NFL does and sits with the equipment guys during the week getting them ready? Explain to me why they would take it upon themselves with no other input from ANYBODY to risk it and let air out of footballs after they have been inspected by the officials.

If it is as cut and dry as you say it is, why isn't the proof in the report? Why does it basically say, "He probably had knowledge of it."?

Are you ignoring what RJS just posted? That's my answer. He could have said "let some air out of the balls" WITHOUT telling them to do it to an illegal level, and that wouldn't be cheating... Is it really that hard for you to grasp that idea?

And considering I'm guessing the average person can't tell the difference from the lowest legal level and 1 or 2 psi under, this whole scandal just doesn't bother me that much. It's no different than a QB saying, put more air in, and the balls ending up overinflated. Having a preference to inflation level of a ball isn't exactly hard core "cheating". I don't think it's any worse than a player knowing he got a call he shouldn't have got and not saying anything. Technically, that's a form of cheating, that no one ever complains about. If most people haven't seen (or even done) or gotten away with something similar, I'd be shocked.
