Tebow Will Sign With....

Had Philly not dropped the ball and won at least one of their last 4 games with a backup QB, I think many would still think of Kelly as the brilliant mad scientist. Some moves have been head scratching, but he is not the first GM to make head scratching moves. It is all about the results and his capacity to coach the team.

I get a kick out of people saying Chip Kelly does not know what he is doing. I disagree. When Bill Belichick and Urban Meyer go to see you and what you are doing and want to pick your brain about football things, I think you have a clue about what you are doing. I think it is refreshing that Kelly is confident enough to do things his way and not give a rat's butt about what others think. I don't think Tebow can play in the NFL but Kelly is taking no chances here. He can always cut him (like Belichick did a year or two ago) if it does not work out in camp.

Again, I sure would trade Marvin for him in a heart beat...

They didn't go to see him about running a team. They went to learn his offense. He got rid of LeSean McCoy, Nick Foles and Jeremy Maclin. That's asinine. He got lucky with Murray because Murray called him. Sam Bradford won't last longer than Tebow and Mark Sanchez is still Mark Sanchez. He traded McCoy for a LB that has had two knee surgeries already. Those 350+ carries are going to catch up with Murray, especially behind that crappy O-Line. This ain't college where he can just go recruit people to take someone's place. His QBs are Sanchez, Bradford, Tebow and Barkley aren't they? Yeah, that screams Bill Belichick all over it.

Remember, they were 10-6 both last year and the year before, missing the playoffs last year, and losing in the opening round the year before. And two of the teams in their division have been dreadful. And that's with those players you mention. McCoy slipped some last year while playing behind basically the same O-line. And by most accounts, Murray is a better fit for the offense Kelly likes. Maclin really has had one really good year (last year) since being drafted years ago, has had a serious knee injury, and wasn't worth what he was asking for and eventually got paid. And Foles regressed badly last year, and I don't think anyone feels like he is a true franchise guy. As a fan, I'm scared to death as to what this season might bring. But if you really take an honest look, I get logic behind all his moves.

This I have wondered about. Say they move back the extra point line to the 35 and teams start going for 2. Wouldn't a guy like Tebow become a premium?

Not from the 35 yrd line. Maybe from the 2 yrd line. You have to be able to throw from the 35 yrd line. Teams have trouble scoring from inside the red zone.

McCoy was essentially a salary dump, and he's getting on toward his shelf life date. Would like to have seen Philly get a pick or something as well, but Alonso is widely expected to be a standout or a star once he gets past his injury issues. If …

Foles and Maclin were both "sell high" situations that I can't really fault. No guarantee either of those guys does anything as big as what they've already done again.

Philly's line was talked about as a strong suit all the time when they were healthy, and it was just that in 2013. If the new moves pan out on the OL and Kelly's able to distribute the load to have Matthews and Sproles absorb some touches, Murray might be able to avoid that massive regression everyone figures he's due for.

Obviously :lol2: One of the proposals was to move back the XP to the 35 (I think), or people could go for two at the normal spot.

you know, I thought of that right after I hit the send button

Yeah, the guy clearly does not know what he is doing. He took over a team that was 4-12 the year before he got there and went 10-6 his first year and then was 6-2 the next year when his starting QB went down and still managed to go 10-6 again (6-4 with Sanchez as backup). Again, I think the guy has forgotten more about football in the last 10 minutes than most his detractors have ever known. I think it is hilarious that people are judging the off season moves of the Eagles and the draft has not even happened yet. Bradford when healthy is better than Foles. Murray is better than McCoy (now...not a couple of years ago). People act like Maclin is a perennial all pro. He is not. He is good but not irreplaceable . Again, I will take Kelly as my coach any time. The beauty is that we get to see this upcoming season how they do. If nothing else, it will be fun to watch.

Mark Sanchez thinks Tim Tebow is a camp arm.

Sanchez told CSNPhilly.com that he’s been told Tebow was signed as another quarterback to give the receivers some work because Sam Bradford is still not 100 percent.

“He’s obviously a great guy, he works hard. Andwe needed another guy to throw while Sam’s still recovering,” Sanchez said. “So that’s the reason [for the signing], at least as explained to me. We’re excited about the upcoming year and I think we have a great group.”

But that reason makes no sense. If the Eagles just wanted another guy to throw, there are dozens of quarterbacks with better arms than Tebow who could do that job.

So while Sanchez may have been told that Tebow is just a camp arm, Chip Kelly must have other plans. If the Eagles wanted a camp arm, they would’ve signed someone with a better arm than Tebow.

But Tebow will give the receivers a lot of experience making the tough catches.
