March 27, 201511 yr Try Joyce Meyer. She is on ABC Family Channel every morning at 6 a.m. I believe you can also watch her online
March 27, 201511 yr I get the idea that televangelists are not where you want to start if you're interested in learning about religion. I agree. Probably a internet search would be more productive. I would start with learning what the differences between Christian Sects is ie why do Catholics believe this while Protestants believe this, etc.. A televangelist will just tell you his (or hers) narrow view and probably bash all other views.
March 27, 201511 yr If you can find some of the old Billy Graham Crusades I think you'd be good. Not really a televangelist but his old "Crusades" are on TV quite often and many times Johnny Cash is his guest.
March 27, 201511 yr Author Try Joyce Meyer. She is on ABC Family Channel every morning at 6 a.m. I believe you can also watch her online Cool, exactly the kind of thing I am looking for. I will set the DVR up. And I don't care about the money, jets, fame, etc, I just want to hear what they have to say. In other words, I want to go into it bias free and not get caught up in the small stuff that could put a negative spin on it.
March 27, 201511 yr Or a jet; this guy needs a jet. Creflo Dollar asks for $60 million for a jet | KXLY.com - KXLY.com Benny Hinn had a need for a special offering for a Jet many years ago...I guess they can't fly commercial.

March 27, 201511 yr Isn't there a college course you could possibly take somewhere that talks about all forms of religion? Anyone?
March 27, 201511 yr Isn't there a college course you could possibly take somewhere that talks about all forms of religion? Anyone? Absolutely. Most colleges have a course that will cover the fundamentals of multiple religions
March 27, 201511 yr Unless you are home bound because of age or illness I don't get the concept of televangelists.
March 27, 201511 yr Author Unless you are home bound because of age or illness I don't get the concept of televangelists. If your best friend was home bound who would you recommend?
March 27, 201511 yr You can expect Mother Angelica to be at your house with a ruler in hand mister! Definitely agree about Fulton Sheen. He never seemed to be "corrupted" by his fame, he just enjoyed teaching. Fr. Corapi used to just enjoy teaching but the fame got to his head. Obviously considering his superiors ordered him to end his public ministry. Not sure what he is doing now. Wouldn't surprise me as a way to teach him humility if he hasn't been put into a very lowly role. Never seen anything on television that really made me a stronger Catholic. Maybe it's a personal problem with the format. TV is so passive. Even in the case of Bishop Sheen, I read his books before I ever saw his television spots. Getting into the pages of a good book has been -- and ever shall be in saecula saeculorum -- where the good stuff is at.
March 27, 201511 yr If your best friend was home bound who would you recommend? When my mom had cancer and couldn't get out anymore, her priest came to the house. :thumb:
March 27, 201511 yr If your best friend was home bound who would you recommend? No clue. Couldn't name one that's on TV. I still picture Swaggart.
March 27, 201511 yr I recommended the farting preacher videos on Youtube. That guy is really filled with the spirit.
March 27, 201511 yr I'm with Jumper Dad on this one. Billy Graham is the man and they re-run a lot of his old taped Crusades events on some of the religious channels. I will catch one every once in a while...might be from the early 60's or mid 70's...really doesn't matter, the basic theme is always the same, and very biblically based. usually in a big arena or stadium with thousands and thousands of people listening. Watched one here recently, was speaking at the old Cowboys stadium when it had just opened. As for Joel Osteen and his like...please stay away from those guys. They don't teach the biblical gospel, but rather this "feel good" prosperity gospel that isn't scripture based at all. Believe in God, be good, work hard and you will always be happy and have lots of money. Not how it works.
