I haven't read through the entire thread so if this has already been mentioned.....

Indiana's legislation is NOT the same as the 1993 act of the same name nor is it the same as most of the states that have such legislation.

This article, while partly an opinion piece based on assumptions, does detail two KEY differences that make it worse in some's eyes.

So much for the "this is the same as the 1993 federal legislation, nothing to see here" ridiculousness.

Can someone explain in plain language the differences and the added risk in Indiana's law? All these articles are confusing as can be.

Do you honestly think it's an honest assessment to compare the Indiana law with slavery and segregation?

I stated that it was partly opinion. I posted the thread because it listed out what appears to be two distinct differences.

Maybe the law goes too far. Who could know with the spins every news outlet takes.

But there is no way a t-shirt guy should have to make a shirt for a family who is getting ready to watch a person executed if he doesn't believe in the death penalty.

No way a videographer should be forced to video something that the act they are asked to video goes against their belief (abortion was mentioned above).

No way a baker should be forced to decorate a cake that celebrates a swinging lifestyle if the baker feels it is immoral.

I find it hard to believe that there aren't plenty of businesses who would support every sub-group or will perform the service to make the money. Why would any of these sub-groups want to use someone who didn't want to work with them? I just don't get it.

This is going to get ridiculous.

As it should.

I loathe Westboro Baptist and what they stand for but I would love to see them seek out openly gay photographers and hire them to chronicle their activities. If what I'm reading here is true the photographer would have no choice but to take the job,

An interesting Executive meeting today. We'll be not only emailing a letter to our entire database about our commitment to welcoming all, but also snail mailing letters to selected segments of our database.

The leadership team from our parent company is working through their channels to assist the Governor in rectifying the situation to a satisfactory conclusion. Since the company is a global company which is not only headquartered in Bloomington, but has made significant economic impact to the state AND is owned by the wealthiest family in the state, they aren't without influence.

It was gratifying to see the support for amending the legislation to mitigate the potential damage to the various bottom lines, but also to the even lengthier discussion about what negative effects the legislation could have on employees and their families and the local communities in which they have operations.

I thought Republicans always read legislation before passing it. What did we have here -- 100 words maybe? Pence and the Pachyderms better make it a point in a week or so to run the revisions past the Hoosier equivalent of the Legislative Research Commission.

Most are hoping for amendments to be passed this Thursday.
