Clarify protections. Some are hoping that sexual orientation becomes a protected class in Indiana, among others. In Indiana, age, race, gender and one other (can't remember which) are the only protected classes.

Thanks.

The other is usually religion which of course is what's causing a lot of the issues in the first place in this situation. It's a real mess.

That and the clarification of "people" to define it more narrowly.

Could someone please tell me the religion that encourages discrimination of homosexuals? The only one I can think of (and I may be wrong) is Islam, which is ironic since most left-winged politicians seem to be pushing for acceptance of Islam, a religion that refuses to accept others.

Also, and I the only one who is disturbed that the media and most people are calling this 'unfair?' Discrimination is wrong. Racism is wrong. But the government has no Constitutional right to tell me how I can behave and what kind of feelings I have toward others.

Question:

Devout photographer (you pick the denomination) is approached to shoot a heterosexual married couple in varying stages of marital bliss. is the photographer allowed to decline on the basis of religious objections?

Arkansas passed the same legislation today.

Story from November, but its still relevant:

"I was fascinated by the story, because we are a T-shirt maker,” she said. “When I read the story I immediately felt, ‘If I were in his shoes, what would they be forcing me to do?’ I have to say, if that were me I wouldn’t like it either.”

The business the lady was referring is Kentucky based "Hands On Originals."

Question:

Can a business owner EVER decline to do business with someone citing moral objections to a legal activity?

Some very tough questions. What if a gay rights group wants to get into the abortion debate. Can they then force a devout catholic printer to print up signs, advertisements or shirts promoting a woman's choice? Do we really want to go there? Do any of these laws address that situation?

Another Question:

The liberal governor of Connecticut made a real scene by announcing his boycott of Indiana and the basketball coach at UConn has made sure that everyone knows he's not going to the Final 4 because of this law but would the Gov or the coach be so high and mighty if UConn didn't suck this year and would have made the final 4 or is this a boycott of convenience?

I also notice that no one that is against this law has an answer.

Another question:

Can a black caterer decline doing business with a person known for having racist beliefs?

Big business speaks.
