Not a fan of Rocky Patel's, my experience with them as been inconsistent. Really like the Oliva's, and I just realized I have none of those in my humidors. I also realized I've never had Elijah Craig...I look at it all the time, but for some reason have never pulled the trigger. Maybe I need to go shopping.....

To be honest, I purchased the Petel's for smoking while I'm driving a distance. I don't normally smoke them at home. I like Elijah Craig, but I really like the Barrel Proof. It has a very nice flavor, I do dilute it some, it's 128 proof. But a little water really opens it up with great flavor. Plus, having to add water makes a bottle last a good while. I am normally a straight and neat guy, but I do add water to the barrel proof.

I also like bourbon with good ginger ales, like Blenheims or Reeds that have some spice to them. I stick with the cheaper stuff like Beam, or Evan Williams for those purposes.

Like them all, I was always a little skeptical of people saying water adds some flavor, but after adding water to some of the high proofs I have to say there are some complexities there that I didn't anticipate.
March 20, 201511 yr I have a cigar about every Saturday night. Sometimes with a bourbon, ususally Woodford neat, sometimes not. Last weekend I skipped the bourbon and the cigar was an Alec Bradley American Classic robusto. OK, but not my favorite. It's because you skipped the bourbon. :wacky:

March 22, 201511 yr It's because you skipped the bourbon. :wacky: Boy I didn't Friday night. Kind of over did it. It didn't help that I only ate one meal all day. Woodford and a My Father Connecticut, robusto. This cigar might become my second go to after the Oliva Connecticut Reserve.

They have one really good mild cigar - Virtue I agree with Neerfan on the Nub line. Good but a bit over priced.
