Should the Sweet 16 seed instead of draw?

Featured Replies

I am not necessarily an advocate of seeding, but why couldn't you do what the NCAA tournament does?

You have a committee with one representative from each region or something like that.

The tennis state tournament has seeded the singles and doubles events for a long time, and they usually get it at least pretty close to correct. It had always been one rep (typically coach) from each region until last year when they switched it to a different committee.

Just like with the NCAA, there will be people who disagree with some of the seeds, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be successful overall.

Again, I'm not really in favor of seeding, but I don't think the ability or lack thereof to do the seeding is the reason it shouldn't happen.

I like the current system..adds a mystique to it..East meets West or Mountain meets City, just hate too see tradition messed with.

Put PP92 in a locked office with a giant dry erase board, some markers and a case of beer, and let him have at it!

No, because there is no way to properly seed teams from across the entire state.

What would you use to determine seeding that isn't subjective and in some cases as random as drawing?

Agree.

Seeding occurs in most districts because the teams can play each other twice during the season. That's not possible at the state level. It would be based on human opinion and that's not good enough.

This is the only way I would be for seeding the Sweet 16. :D

I'd get it right. Especially if I can bring some help that I trust into the office with me.

PP92, just for fun why don't you seed us a Sweet 16 bracket after tonight's finals completes the field.

Oh man...this thread is gonna be a fun one to read.

No, then the opinions of larger populations would always want to rule. Always putting the lower and less enrolled schools at a disadvantage. I can hear it know, this region plays tougher competition so they must be better. Their athletic budget allows them to play bigger and better outside competition, which means they must be ranked higher. It fair and honest. Win and advance. It's that simple.

No. Too many problems with seeding and while a draw might not be perfect, at least it is fair.

Bet Boyle gets a favorable seed :)

Right above Ballard. :D

Still working on the seedings. I'll post them early tomorrow morning though. Making progress.

Agree. If your going to seed it then you need a class system. You would be giving the advantages to the big schools. What makes the Sweet Sixteen so good is that it gives a smaller school the opportunity with the draw. We will see a team step up next week and play well that nobody expects. Good discussion but leave it alone.
