Should the Sweet 16 seed instead of draw?

Featured Replies

No. That would just open up a whole can of worms. I Like your progressive thinking but the draw is the draw and while it helps to avoid the high powered teams at all costs, you still have to play the games. Look at how many years the bracket has fallen apart from what the experts (I've certainly been fooled) thought might happen.

Louisville Central making the finals vs. Holmes is just one of many cases.

To add to the last sentence.....who did Louisville Central defeat in the semis to meet Holmes? Jarrod Polson-led West Jessamine. I love the draw.

Central also upset Louisville Eastern in the second round and no one gave them much of a chance to win. Eastern beat them by 20 on last game of the regular season

I like the current system..adds a mystique to it..East meets West or Mountain meets City, just hate too see tradition messed with.

Wish the tradition of Saturday morning and Saturday night championship was still the tradition. Not a fan of the finals now on Sunday.

That's true..hard on the families and fans to travel the long distances that many different days...the players probably like the rest though...it has to be hard on some of the older Family members because riding long distance is very tough on the body at that age...just a thought..wonder what the reasons were for changing the format player rest only or some other reason

More money.

This. The first year they did it UK had a game scheduled Saturday afternoon so they couldn't do the morning games. They had some of the biggest crowds they ever had for the semis. Thus "in the best interests" it was mad a permanant change.

Big fan of the draw here.

There is nothing that needs to be changed with the Sweet 16. No matter the subject, you always get a group of "know it alls" sitting around wanting to change things to make it better for what most already like. More often than not, they ruin a good thing. One perfect example is the 6 class football system. Another is how Indiana ruined their state basketball tourney. Sometimes change is good. Sometimes its a nightmare. Changing the Sweet 16 is moronic. I'd say its about equivalent to the idea what new coke was years ago. If you don't like it how it is, don't go. Leave it to the other 20,000 in attendance.

If you change the SWEET 16, you change HISTORY!!!! "If it is not broken don't fix it"!

With that said.... I would like to see the Saturday Morning:Semi-Finals and Saturday Night Finals return.

IF, you change it to a seed use a similar method as football:

Regions 1vs 2 play 1st round.

Regions 3vs 4 play 1st round. Rotate between the regions 1 vs 3 & 2 vs 4 then 1 vs 4 2 vs 3 each year.

Regions 5 vs 6 play 1st round.

Regions 7 vs 8 play 1st round. Rotate between regions like above.

Regions 9 vs 10 play 1st round.

Regions 11 vs 12 play 1st round. Rotate between regions like above.

Regions 13 vs 14 play 1st round.

Regions 15 vs 16 play 1st round. Rotate like above.

This would allow for a "Final Four" made up of teams from a different geographical region each year ( ie Western KY, Eastern KY ect..)

I know that putting the Regions 5&8 with 6&7 along with Regions 9-12 together makes thing very difficult for those teams, but does give the opportunity for more teams to make the sem-final and finals. Maybe!!

Just a thought!
