I was at the 9th Region tourney last night and noticed that the public schools had pep bands and NCC didn't. I also can't remember any parochial school in the 9th having one. Is there a reason for this? I am not being critical, but can't imagine these schools not having kids interested in music. Do they have band instructors and could that be the reason?

I LOVE pep bands at games.

 

I have seen the CCH/NDA at football games and a few b-ball games.

 

Of course, a pep band isn't needed at CCH games to add atmosphere.

I think choreographing things with a pep band would take them to another dimension.

A good pep band at a high school game makes all the difference in the world, IMO.

 

I'm a band geek, though.

I think Gary Devoto runs the music department. They have developed some great musicians over the years. They put on one heck of a musical every year. Good call, I'm not sure of any parochial schools with a pep band either. Noit sure why.

One word: money.

Pep bands add the flavor to the environment. Girls' 8th Region the other night was quite a treat as two of the best pep bands I've heard this year played in the same game when Oldham County played Simon Kenton. Listening to the two bands helped make the night so incredibly enjoyable.

A lot more enjoyable than listening to the DJ at score table...

A lot of good pep bands in the 10th Region semis: Harrison County is outstanding. Campbell County and Pendleton County are both very good too.

I absolutely love the pep bands adds to the atmosphere of the game. To me, while not the end of the world it is a little upsetting if the band is not playing. Much rather have a band than the music playing over the PA.

I was very impressed by Boone County's band on Friday night. They really brought the power and kept the good jams rollin'. As a unit they were solid and their percussion section was dynamite. They really gave that good old fashioned feelin'.

Boone's pep band is currently the leader in NKY.

Can't stand pep bands at games in a high school gym. Would like to discuss the game during time outs and halftime but you can't because the band is to loud and they never stop.
