March 5, 201511 yr ... I've never loved Spindoc more than I do in this thread. For the record, as much as NKU and Crash are my guys in the real, I'm 100% with Spin on this. This dude has more issues than Sports Illustrated (wait....think about it....they've had LOTS of issues). Him not being baseball-ready is among the funniest things I've seen.

March 6, 201511 yr The fact alone that he cant participate in said "Spring training game" is the reason there is outrage. All he had to do yesterday was DH for one at bat, ONE FREAKING AT BAT, and no one says a word. But hes 'NOT READY YET" "NOT IN GAME SHAPE" WHY? He either physically cant play the game anymore, or its mental. Apparently he didn't yet earn his base running badge at camp, so he couldn't advance to the next stage. He got that pesky base running badge yesterday, and now all is well...
March 6, 201511 yr He's starting and hitting 2nd tomorrow. R-E-L-A-X :ohbrother: He missed 3 ST games. PANIC!!!!!
March 6, 201511 yr He's starting and hitting 2nd tomorrow. R-E-L-A-X :ohbrother: No one is not relaxing, if you will, because of games in March. We are not relaxing because the guy is a paradox wrapped in a conundrum and the Magic 8 Ball points to another disappointing and odd season. I don't care if he plays in March, I care that he wasn't able to be baseball ready in March.
March 7, 201511 yr I think Votto is as soft as a pillow (mentally and physically) but the ONLY thing that matters is how he hits beginning in April. What happens between now and then is meaningless. Let's just see how he does beginning on Opening Day. Baseball is such a long season - nobody is going to care in April or May about what happened in spring training, whether Votto is hitting .340 or .210. I find it amazing that he was not "baseball ready" in March when he hurt his knee last June or July but at the end of the day, it just does not matter until April.

If I recall, this was not an ACL reconstruction, just some clean up and rehab. I like Votto, I think he's a solid player and a good team guy...he has just never really found his groove in this organization. Not being baseball ready is very questionable, whether it is mental or physical. All the resources in the world to get yourself ready and one job, be ready to play baseball.... I wonder if the MLB powerhouse in Canada is interested in him ?
March 18, 201511 yr Votto has played in 5 of the 16 Reds Spring training games. I guess hes still getting in game shape......by not playing.

March 21, 201511 yr I didn't see the box score but I believe the Reds rallied for 5 runs last night in the 9th to win, capped off with a Joey Votto HR.
