Votto not ready to start

Featured Replies

Watched a few innings of the Reds game on MLB network tonight just to see Votto. His swing IMO looks dramatically better than it was last year. He seems to have a lot more confidence in that knee when swinging.

Also Meso is still crushing balls

Votto lined the ball back up the middle in his 1st AB.

Hamilton is really struggling.

Votto now 9 games in, looks like he is in season shape with a 45% strikeout rate.

Well...that on-base pct is over .400, so there is that.

Wonder how many were 3-2 called strike threes?

He's up to .290 in 13 games.

Heard an interesting stat the other day. On balls in the strike zone Votto is hitting something stupid like .400. On balls out of the zone he's hitting well below .200.

But by all means, lets all keep harping on all much he swings.

Probably no more than 8 of them :)

Exactly it is much better for him to swing at a bad pitch and get out, than not swing at a bad pitch and get walked and be on base. I have never understood why people get so upset with his approach. His approach wasn't a problem when he won MVP. His numbers are down IMO because of injuries not because of his approach.

Joey Votto hasn't been ready or done much of anything since he got the big $$ contract. I guess the $$ got in his eyes.

It's to bad Votto wasn't ready when spring training started to play spring training games that meant nothing. Just imagine how many more hits he would have had on opening day if he was fully ready to start meaningless games in spring training.

Votto hasn't been healthy since he got that big contract either, that is the main reason.

Talk to us in August.

I realize that. Yes, he has been hurt a lot. With all of the problems I have to wonder what he is doing in the off season, does he stay in shape, prepare for the season ? I also sometimes question is his attitude / desire, meaning at times I have seen him seem like he wasn't giving total effort or as if he didn't care. Desire / Attitude was more what I was speaking of. I know that there were times when he didn't hustle, run out ground balls and I absolutely can't stand that. As for the other things I had mentioned it may very well be me just reading it as no desire, attitude type actions. I hope not. I guess this season will tell more.

Well tonight he hasn't looked to good lol
