Paris 68 George Rogers Clark 49 (40th District Semifinals)

I do not want to jinx Montgomery County, but wouldn't it be something if Bourbon County beat Montgomery (possible) and Paris beat GRC (possible).

Didn't we have someone campaigning for GRC being a Top 20 team a few weeks ago?

*cough and 1 and 1a in the region *cough

Let the sleeping dog lie?

They've been prone to lengthy stretches where they don't score much. Those who have seen them regularly could guess why that's the case, but I would just guess that they lacked skilled offensive players. King & Greene were their top scorers, combining to average about 34 ppg. They combined for 16 points tonight.

GRC made some offensive strides this year, and Braxton Greene was one of the most improved players in the 10th IMO. But offense has been a struggle for them at times. From the update thread, it sounded like turnovers were also a problem in this one.

You nailed it. We had bad pass after bad pass, something that we normally don't do. For the last 3 years GRC has struggled to play 4 full quarters. Only game I can remember this year that we did was the LCA game.

Exactly what I was going to post. Worry about your own team....it is tourney time and anything can happen as we have seen in the 40th district tonight. Not just one team, but the top 2 seeded teams.

Best of luck to Paris and Bourbon to advancing to the finals of the district and on to the region. Well deserved wins for both teams.

Now you know how the Mason County fans have felt the past two years.

I've been saying all year, "any given night any team in the 10th can beat another". Parity

I have said this too, also don't go by regular season games...they mean nothing, it is post season that counts.

I wonder how many would have guessed yesterday that Bourbon and Paris would be playing for the 40th District Title. I bet that will be a tough ticket Thursday night.

I live in Paris.. and yes the whole town is pretty pumped about the game. Should be a good one to watch!

And is that really right? Regular season should have some meaning other than district tournament seeding. Why not give the regular season leader the district tournament site?

I was surprised by this one though. Thought you were back this year Goldy. Great kids coming up though. Keep the faith!

Can you say meltdown

For the past two season we won 9 games each season. This year we were 18-10. Great improvement. Got to give credit to Paris on the win. Great game plan and execution by them.

Yes we have some talent coming up and as you know I support them in the good and down years as long as I am living.

GRC and Montgomery Co both came into the 10th region in the 1965-66 season. One or both had been in EVERY 10th region tournament since. That's over a span of 49 seasons.

Wow.

Good point .. As I recall, this is first time bourbon or Paris have been to regional tourney since moving to 40th district in 2006..

If you do some further research though , it's uncanny how many times Clark and Montgomery drew opposite each other in district tournament .. Only drew each other Like 3 times over 20+ years

If the district has always been seeded, there's no surprise.

Not sure what you mean exactly but the district was never seeded until 2006
