I understand a class system due to enrollment discrepencies. But I think the public/private debate is a joke. Leave it alone.

To say that the way to beat T and X is to work harder is crazy, NCC which was a state champion could practice 20 hours a day and they would not have beaten T or X, so they work hard enough to win state but they did not have enough talent to beat T or X (This is meant as no disrespect to NCC). It is not a how hard you work thing or a public private thing it is a talent thing. Big Colonel did CCH finally learn to work harder than Beechwood, No they had more talent.

Andigidy, It is easy to say Stae is won by hard work alone but I believe if you would have went to Ballard you probably would have worked hard and not won a championship.

According to a JEFFERSON COUNTY public school coach I met, yes. He said they cannot push their kids as hard because they would just quit. I KNOW it is not that way out in the state, but in Jefferson County, they have to do everything they can just to get kids out.

Of the 31 AAAA titles, Trinity & X have combined for 21 of them. 4 others have gone to Louisville schools (3 to Male, 1 to Butler (1979)). Christian Co. has 2. Nelson Co., Henry Clay, and George Rogers Clark have 1 each. So 6 other schools have found what it takes to get ahead and win. Force the others to follow suit, not chicken out and find an easy way to the finals.

Where did I say that? I just said they need to work harder if they want to get better and compete.

How else did you mean what you said? Either the public schools don't work as hard as the privates or they have to work harder then the privates to over come less talent. Which way was your post meant to go?

"Beat a dead horse". Maybe its getting close to the Derby and we are getting closer the summer and that means closer to the season and we are bored. Iroquois should be in 2 or 3 A like Atherton that might help some. Its no fun playing a school and knowing there will be a running clock the whole second half. I can't speak for Male during busing because my kids Mom was still in High School and I was following Iroquois not Male. I pull for Male because of my son, and understand why the public schools are at a disadvantage. If my 9 year old goes to say Fern Creek, guess who I'm pulling for then. Your not gonna change my mind...And I'm not gonna change yours. Hey, thats OK

Is the playing field "unlevel" between Male and Iroquois?

Just answer that question honestly and then explain to me why the problem that you perceive between private and public schools is any more deserving of being addressed then the same problem that exists between public schools.

Larry, I think that your post points out one huge difference. My sons were going to Trinity and I knew it before they were born. I have my own opinion about all of the work harder stuff. I am sure that kids at many schools work very hard. Do the people that support the schools work as hard as the team? I think that the biggest difference is in the hard work of the supporters. I knew a fellow once that worked very hard for the JCPS that his kids attended. He was finished the day they graduated. At a place like Trinity, the loyalty and work are there for many long before and after their kids are students.

You went to the school in your area.

That doesn't mean that THAT particular school should own that child. Hence, your son going to Male, when he is obviously in "someone's" district.

Basketball does not always have the same row to hoe while football/baseball/softball seems to.

I am all for seeding our football tourney....with that it would keep the best teams truly at the end.

All, I thought I did answer your question. Knowing a school that has "A Lot lesser numbers" and you are playing them on Friday is not much fun. Did you see where I mentioned the "running clock & the Raiders going to 2 or 3 A"?

Trinity, I understand your point and believe me I commend that. Both schools have Great tradition and when I travel and get into a conversation about High school football on "Tidefans" I proudly talk about X and the Rocks. I just realize that to win a championship for a public school you are gonna have to beat X & Rocks probaby in back to back weeks. Thats all. And finally if my 9 year old becomes an outstanding player at the age of 14 and is asked to come to X or Rocks that will not happen. And I don't mean that in a mean way. Hope this clears some things up.

So you don't think public school kids work as hard as T or X? You honestly thing that is why they win almost every year. They work that much harder then everyone else.

^ Not all do, those that do succeed (Dixie, Male, Manual)

For those claiming X and T recruit, why don't they have large numbers of D1 players year in and year out? Why is it that the Publics do better in that reguard in Jefferson Co? Are you saying X and T have poor recruiters???

Finally someone from the southeast that agrees. Thank you.

$$$ aside. If your kid wanted to go to Trinity or X, you would not allow that to happen?

 Interesting.
