How would you define success in terms of Manual and Dixie?

They both have beaten us, Manual has also recently beaten Male as well.

Rock, fair question. Nothing to do with sports. We are Devout Baptist and its not a good fit for my son. They are great schools and I know a lot of parents who love their education there.

I can't speak for others outside the Jefferson County, but here most people from the public schools want a level ground. When you can get kids from 12 or 13 different counties it helps your program. And it doesn't matter how hard you practice. How would the coach from X done at Atherton or Iroquois the past 10 years? When you play against the private schools your playing against allstar teams. The stats are there for the past 30 years and do you think its going to change? Still I rather not see a change in the playoffs but something has to be done.

 

I'm sure the powers that be at Iroquois and Atherton would love to have a "level playing field" with Male. If you want to make the assertation that private schools are basically fielding all-star teams and that schools like Male are not doing the same then you are burying your head in the sand. When Male was a districted school they were horrible. They overcame that when they lost their district boundries and were able to draw students county wide at the expense of schools like Iroquois. I know from where I speak because I was once affiliated with the Iroquois athletic department and 1 year that I can recall there were 4 kids starting for other public schools that lived in Iroquois' district. How is that any different the the unfair advantages you want to say that private schools have? I'm sure that they feel like when they play Male they are playing against an all star team.

You know what ticks me off? Is when Male gets upset about us and X. We earned our money, numbers, rings, etc... Male is the gift child of the county. They get state funds, for their wonderful things.

Beating any of the Big III would be a great start. Even for Fidler's alma....you see, to be the best you have to beat the best, and not many do.

In 4A? Pretty much. Competing those infamous Big 3 is a stepping stone to success in the tournament. The road to the title is through those three schools. If you can play with them, you can play with anybody in the state.

Male has a stadium unlike any other at a public school in Jefferson County (except Manual which is a whole different animal). The year it was built the light standards at Iroquois were condemned. I know for a fact that every resource that JCPS could make available was done so as to insure Male's new stadium was 100% functional to start the season while Iroquois had to play their games right after school on Fridays because there was not enough money to replace their lights. About mid season the lights finally came back on at Iroquois.

 

Male had several years where they were the only public school that could draw from the entire county AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHER PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

 

I find it very, very distasteful for anyone that is a supporter of Male to say anything about unfair advantages when they refuse to admit that most if not all of the advantages they say the private schools have over them they in fact have over the other public schools.

No thanks needed....I know alot of other people from the southeast that agree as well. Of course I come from a 3A school that doesnt have to compete with Trinity and X. 3A has been dominated primarily by public schools.

 

I can see where alot of 4A schools are coming from, especially those in the southeast, but I still dont think the split would be good.

 

Class system in football is neccessary due to enrollment and squad size discrepancy. However, there should be no public/private split.

 

Along those lines...there should be 1 state basketball champion.

All, thats OK. I said earlier "I cannot change your mind and you cannot change mine". When was the last time Male won state in football? And who was their QB? Every year there are kids who are good players who cannot get into Male and want to attend Male. Lets see in 4 years if my 9 year old gets in who of my 4 sons is the better athlete. Rememeber I went to Iroquois and hate it when they play top 4A team.
