February 15, 201511 yr With lethal injection under review by the U.S. Supreme Court, the Utah House of Representatives on Friday approved legislation to resume executions by firing squad, which were halted in 2004. The bill, which narrowly cleared the Republican-controlled chamber, faces uncertain prospects in the GOP-dominated Senate, and Republican Gov. Gary Herbert has not said whether he would sign it into law. The measure comes amid a shortage of execution drugs, which pharmaceutical companies are refusing to provide, and the Supreme Court's decision last month to block three executions in Oklahoma as it reviews the three-drug cocktail the state uses to put inmates to death. Utah House votes to resurrect firing squads
February 15, 201511 yr I know many are against the death penalty, but given states continue with it, what form of execution would be considered acceptable by the BGP nation? I, for one, have no problem with the firing squad.
February 16, 201511 yr I am for any method in which the guilty one has to endure a death that is more brutal than the one he caused. My opinion is that the punishment should exceed the crime is it is at all possible.
February 16, 201511 yr I say bring back public hangings for particulary heinous crimes. Send a message.
February 16, 201511 yr I'd vote against this method. I don't get the mentality that we have to be more cruel than them.

If there is going to be a death penalty in any given state, which one would you prefer to see? "I'm against the death penalty" is not a an acceptable answer to the question. If there has to be one, which one?

February 16, 201511 yr History has provided us with so many imaginative possibilities on this topic. Here's 25 of them, and I'm sure that any one of these will do the trick. If not these, I'm confident that today's wonderful minds can come up with many various ingenious suggestions, and of course lately ISIS has regularly provided us with a few ideas of their own. At the end of the day the victim is Dead, and Dead is pretty much Dead, so pick any one of these along with some newer brilliant ideas right out of a hat, and the one who is to be executed gets what they get...Y'know...potluck. Dead is Dead. But of course make these executions public so that crowds of families and friends can enjoy all the festivities, and be apart of it all by shouting, taunting, and applauding. Also, everyone can capture the moment on their smart phones and instantly post it to Twitter or Facebook. or (In my best harsh British Medieval accent followed by a grimace).... "I say an eye for an eye"

If there has to be one, which one? First, I am not a death penalty proponent because (1) if you make a mistake in convicting the wrong guy and execute him, it cannot be fixed later and (2) a poor guy has a better chance of getting the death penalty than a rich guy who can afford the best lawyer. That being said, if you are going to have the death penalty, lethal injection would be what I would choose. For the people OK with firing squad, would you be OK being one of the firing squad members??
February 16, 201511 yr Guillotine. Full proof and quick; can't be said to be cruel and unusual so where's the downside?

"I say an eye for an eye" Thanks. Those are tough, real tough.

February 16, 201511 yr Yes. Same. I don't know the protocol, but seems I read that the squad didn't know who was live and who was not. I have no problem with any method of capital punishment. It's the end that matters. I'm not for punishing the offender any worse or any less. I'm for the end result. I'd be for a less expensive means if that's possible. 223 ammo is pretty inexpensive.
February 18, 201511 yr Maybe we should give the inmates the option. I'd take a bullet to the brain over lethal injection.
