They can absolutely make noise. They had CCH down a point in the 3rd. Junior got his 4th foul and CCH took off from there.

This was foreshadowed just 4 days ago when the Bulldogs were only up 2 with 4 minutes to play against Highlands.

 

I guess Mullins did not play again??

No excuses. Holmes simply didn't defend and the score proves that. Rebels shot 70% and got lay up after lay up.

 

They're just playing with you big guy. Let's suck it up and move on. Responding is what you shouldn't do. The season isn't over, you never know in late Feb, early March when they count.

Not a threadjack here.

 

Mason County shot 27-41; 12-18 from 3 tonight. Played BUNCH of reserves.

 

But that was - and I mean no disrespect - against Nicholas County. Not Holmes.

I actually thought about coming out to see this one, but didn't think it would be worth the drive to Florence.....looks like I missed a good one.

 

Coach Dawn was in attendance and I'm sure he saw what he already knew.

 

Play a zone and force Holmes to make shots. Use good ball movement on offense and screens for easy lay ups. Seems to be a recipe for Boone to beat Holmes every year but this is the only year, recently, that they've had similar talent to execute and get it done.

 

Stanley did a little bit of everything tonight. I've made comments in the past that he disappears against the "elite" teams but he definitely showed up tonight. Showed a lot of toughness at both ends.

 

Stockwell did a nice job at both ends as well. Used his strength around the rim to get easy buckets and defensively played straight up to avoid fouling, despite Holmes attacking the rim and trying to get in to him to draw fouls.

 

Borkowski scored both inside and out and handled Holmes' pressure, along with Mayberry.

 

All in all, Holmes' pressure wasn't very effective. Boone used ball movement and got a ton of points in transition while setting good back screens in the half court for good looks. Boone attacked Holmes zone and used the high post for feeds down low to wide open cutters.

 

Things don't get easier for Holmes with Newcath on Fri.
