As I understand it, with this loss the Birds dealt themselves a death sentence.

They will now draw in on same side as NCC, while Newport will have to deal with the Black and Gold Tigers to get to the regional tournament. Not much to play for in Fort Thomas the rest of the way out. Will be interesting to see if the Birds have enough pride to man-up and finish out the season strong, or if they mail it in.

All I can say is there are some real classy posts in this thread, some for sure expected.

So is this rock bottom for the Birds? Or just mark a low that will be the norm ?

Really???????????????????? Come on man!!!!!!!!!

How many Birds will turn their jersey's in this week?

Classy post. Who and or why should someone turn uniform in? If someone chooses to quit then the program is better off without them to begin with.

Not much to play for?????? So they should just quit and not show up to play the games? Is that what Mike Code preaches out there? You talk about manning up and make these type of comments?

Well this thread just got more interesting.

Agreed, not my best effort.

Fact - There are three full weeks of basketball to be played.

Fact - The Birds, like many MLB or NFL teams, or other teams with no chance in the post-season will be playing for pride.

Fact - I do think that the next three weeks will test the character of the ballclub.

Fact - I think that Kevin Listerman will use that span to prepare for the future.

Fact - I think that finishing strong despite the adversity will make them better for it in the future.

Fact - I think that some of the posts on here, including mine, might make good bulletin board material in the Bluebirds locker room.

Mustang, you are a solid poster, but your "facts" are a series of opinions.

C'mon man most of them begin with "I think". By the nature of that preface, those aren't "Facts"

IMO, you would have been better off in your post with the first sentence and letting it go.

Last time I remember hearing of the Tigers beating Highlands is the 1976 Regional Tourney when Steve Ridder played.

Interestingly enough, that Bellevue win over Highlands in the regional in '76 was the last regional tournament game won by Bellevue. They're 0-10 since then.

Could there be a coaching change in Ft. Thomas?

Seriously? You know something I don't? There are/have been coaches at HHS that have done far worse than lose a game to Bellevue. If there were a change it would be Kevin's choice. I for one think he has things going in the right direction, but it will take time just like it took Jeremy with the baseball program. Rome was not built in a day.

Why are you getting so offensive Jack? These are mostly legitimate questions when HHS loses to a small school like Bellevue.

Looking back into the past 40 yrs can we identify a coach at Highlands who truly connected with the kids? Flynn was not in the building and although an exceptionally nice guy he wasn't with the kids enough IMO and it wasn't his fault just circumstance. Schlarman and Messmer were no non-sense guys who had a few studs playing for them that have'nt walked through the doors lately. (Glaser, Lorenzen, Smith, Neltner, Vories, Simpson, Mcgraw). Petty? I am not familiar with him only know he sat on the bench with Shields and lost in the Districts a couple times to Scott with some really good teams. Shields is probably the last one who not only had studs but also was a coach the kids connected with on a personal level. I mean the guy has an infectious smile and comes across as a player's coach.

IMO Listerman needs to be that type of coach and from what I have seen so far he is trying to be that guy. He makes several attempts to say hello to the younger kids in Middle school when he sees them and has a lot of passion for the program. I wish him the best and hope he can get things turned around.

Highlands is now counting down the days to football season. LOL. The cake eaters love to rub it in everyone's face then, but funny how when the tables are turned in basketball season there are now hurt feelings and supporters taking offense. YOU CAN'T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT 365 DAYS A YEAR!!!!

Wow. Really. What has Campbell County ever won? Never mind, already know the answer to that question. A big old nothing.
