We have only seen Houlehan at this point...I for one, can't make an informed comment on the best 'closer'.

On the subject of game admission:

 

They have been charging to attend baseball games in the region for the last several years. St. Henry, during the regular season, might be the only exception. CCH, during the school construction, did not charge, because the mess the campus was in, and the tough access to the field.

 

If they didn't use UMPIRES, they might not have an admission fee...since we do, and they have to be paid, we must charge. :cry:

I think the "old guy" made his point quite well. Sloppy game, probably because it's early in the season. Doesn't seem to favor either team, pointed out some facts and obviously wishes HS baseball was more old school.

How about a little respect.

I just said, this isn't some new novelty with the aluminum bats, admissions etc. If he wants to discuss the way it was back in the day, keep it out of a thread between the top 2 teams in NKY.

DoublePlay3, if you play the game, and enjoy the positives that it brings you, then you must also take the flak, when your play isn't all that great.

 

The shortstop didn't play well yesterday at all, in the field. He might be a great kid, and a tremendous shortstop, but yesterday he didn't play all that well, and I don't think he nor anyone else who saw the game would disagree. I also said that the CovCath pitcher kept the Tigers batters off stride with his curve/slider which I thought was mediocre. That statement to me at least, was more of a knock on the Tigers hitters than on the CovCath pitcher. The young man doesn't throw with much heat, and I was just surprised that the Tigers hitters didn't adjust to it.

 

Finally, why shouldn't I go see the team that I played on for four years play, and should I only have written that they looked super and will win the Region and State? Maybe you would, but that isn't why people read these thread. I wrote about what I saw, and was as honest as I could be about what I saw at yesterdays game. Maybe the next time I see the Colonels play, the shortstop will have a better game, like the CovCath Cather did.......

If you can't take criticisim on off days, then you are playing the wrong game. If the players had an off day, then why suger-coat it!

Kind of surprised of the score to this game but it's still early...how did CCH get their runs? any stats?

I wasn't at the game for very long and I too was not very impressed with the performance of either team. But it's early in the year and is expected.

HAHAHA.....at least Theoldguy knows how to score a ballgame. The Post had Beechwoods only run as a single to short by Muth when it was cleary one of the 2 errors A. J. made early in the game.

And that is what the young man did.....However, I would have thought that the best team in the 9th Region, would have adjusted to it.. My goodness, if they come across a pitcher who can bring some heat and can throw a curve/slider they will be in big trouble.... If you can't adjust your swing to a pitcher who doesn't throw with any heat at all, then how in the heck will you be able to adjust if that pitcher can bring some heat as well a curve/slider/changeup.....

 

I understand that it is early in the season, and hopefully both teams will be better the next time they play each other.....

 

BTW did CovCath get in it's game today against NCC?
