Champs05 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Mike Stephens had another great outing. Neuman was the pitcher for Beechwood relieved by Bankamper.
Hat Trick Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 CCH has played two games so far. NCC on tap for tomorrow, with the Knochelman Tourney, Fri, Sat, and Sun.
Theoldguy Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I hope that both teams played as they did due to the season just beginning, as quite frankly I really wasn't overly impressed with either one on this day. The CovCath pitcher did a very good job of keeping the Tigers off stride at the plate by throwing a rather mediocre curve/slider but didn't impress me at all with any heat.... The CovCath shortstop had a very poor outing especially in the first inning and was the only reason the Tigers scored at all. Both teams to me at least have very little team speed, and Beechwood had one huge brain freeze moment when a player tried to tag up from second on a pop up to the first basemen in foul territory with one out in the inning. The CovCath Catcher did a great job of calling the game, and even more so in keeping the ball in front of him at all times on pitches in the dirt...... As a old school baseball player, I hate the little league rules, like DH, pinch runners, and allowing players to come in and out, and anybody who tells me there isn't a huge advantage in using aluminum bats, is just plain crazy, no way some of this young men hit with the high averages that some do with the old wooden bats......while it was a nice day, and it was fun seeing the game, it just isn't the basball that I played in High School .... BTW, pay to see a regular season high school baseball game? WoW... hell we were happy that someone just showed up to see us play.... :D

This isn't breaking news that they DH, use aluminum bats etc. Why not just enjoy the game the way it is now. If you take issue with HS baseball as it is today, why not create a forum for discussion instead of plugging it into a game thread.

Sloppy game, probably because it's early in the season. Doesn't seem to favor either team, pointed out some facts and obviously wishes HS baseball was more old school. How about a little respect.

I think that other than the first post when the poster mention who pitched, I have been the only other person who wrote about the game....... The others including yours, didn't mention anything about this game..... Gee, I not looking for a fight at all, but it isn't the game I grew up playing or coaching, and I haven't been to a regular season HS game in years and years......

Glad you came out to the game today Theoldguy. You might be interested in the Doc Morris Tourney, the weekend of April 22nd at four locations. It's a wood bat tourney and a lot of the kids love it. I'am like you sir....I love the sound of the crack of a wood bat.
porter22 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Is there a reason why Stephens has thrown both games so far? Is something wrong with Blesser, or just saving him?
cshs81 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Is there a reason why Stephens has thrown both games so far? Is something wrong with Blesser, or just saving him? I'm guessing Coach Krumps is setting up his rotation for the rest of the week. I think they could be playing 4 to 5 games by Sunday afternoon.

They have been using Metal Bats since 1980 or so, and I dont think anyone would argue that they are a huge advantage over wood. I do know what your saying but it could be said for all sports. This is a new era.
