Do me a favor. Don't tell Georgetown's coach that Severson got the benefit of friendly scoring last year. That way, he won't wonder why he's able to hit .357 in college.

It's toung in cheek because everybody seems to get grumpy if you say something negative about a CCH ballgame.

 

I just posted a Ryle score...said the game was sloppy. Sure hope the Ryle kids don't ask me not to go to their games.

I was not at the game so I cannot make a comment about that. I enjoy people posting about the games including the negative sides. It's just the same as Team A in basketball. If Team A's best player has a poor game... I expect people to say he had a bad game. If AJ made some bad plays... then say he made the bad plays.

 

I do have the problem with saying that CCH seems to have "padded" Severson's batting average.

I was not at the game so I cannot make a comment about that. I enjoy people posting about the games including the negative sides. It's just the same as Team A in basketball. If Team A's best player has a poor game... I expect people to say he had a bad game. If AJ made some bad plays... then say he made the bad plays.

I agree. Stats simply get a college coaches attention. The player still has to prove to the interested coach that he has what it takes, skills, attitude,

grades ect. No coach is going to look at a box score and sign a kid. You can bet a scout will watch a half dozen games before they even talks to the kid. My point is simply...when a ball goes thru a players legs or is an easy backhand and it's scored a hit...you have to wonder

Eric Severson was terrific last year and I would guess he averaged 3 hits in each of the 5 games I saw him play. I just saw him again at Georgetown this past weekend and he is still swinging the aluminum well. Very nice stroke.

cshs81, I can guarantee you it was an error, and if it wasn't recored as such, then I don't see how the official scorer could rule it as an unearned run, which the Post said it was. If the official scorer didn't rule it as an error, then I certainly wonder what he saw that I didn't. :confused: It was a easy play that a high school shortstop should make every time, every day......no bad hop, no sun, and from my seat, he just missed it.....

You're missing the point. Anytime an official scorer gives a break to a fielder he's screwing the pitcher.

 

If he gives a break to the pitcher, he's screwing the infielder.

 

Someone from CCH , in this example, would have an unjust blemish. You can't satisfy both in your example.

Lets put this in to perspective. You have Pat Muth running to first base. and he hits a ball that the 3rd Baseman dove and missed and even if AJ would have made a back hand stab, do you really think he could have made the play at first. Probably not it was so deep in the hole Pat probably couldnt have made it and he has one of the strongest SS arms in the Region. Also any play like that where a player makes a running or diving effort at and they miss it, if the runner would have been safe on the throw, than it is a hit.
