I'm not ignoring anything. Im just pointing out that in this wonderful country we live in, you are innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent.

 

If indeed he is convicted, then yes, he should be removed from the team. However, if by some chance he is not convicted and Stoops had removed him from the team prematurely, Stoops would have opened the school up to a potential lawsuit.

 

I certainly don't choose football over life, but I also believe in allowing things to run their due course before condemning someone. Your constant attacks and subtle jabs at UK are quite entertaining though. At the same time it is a bit sad that you feel like you have to pick on UK football to make yourself feel better.

What lawsuit? Playing football and receiving an athletic scholarship isn't a right. The coach can decide not to renew a scholarship simply because a player sucks or he didn't recruit him. He can certainly throw him off the team and pull his scholarship because he doesn't like the way he is representing the program--whether he is convicted or not.

 

How about this: What if the player in question is crashes his car, flunks the field sobriety test, flunks the breathalyzer but the police officer messes up something in the arrest and the case gets thrown out on a technicality. Do you not think that the coach should treat him the same as if he'd been convicted?

Obviously there is no lawsuit, since he hasn't been removed from the team. I'm not saying there would be, either way. But if you kick a player off from a team for a criminal violation before the person is ever convicted, yes, you open yourself up to a potential lawsuit.

 

Of course this is Stoops team, but it just makes a lot more sense to let it play out in the court system, as it is supposed to in this country. Once it is settled, let Stoops do what he needs to do. Until a verdict is reached in court, I wouldn't do a damn thing if I were Stoops.
