Bob Crable to Covington Catholic?

Featured Replies

A Crable hire sends a message that the 'soft' is out the window in Park Hills and it's time to get serious about football again.

Isn't that exactly what is needed?

If I were a CC fan...yes. However, the Lynn Ray days are long gone and what I hear out of PH is 'entitlement' from many parents/players.

Lets keep in mind that this job may not be as great as some would think. After all, CovCath hasn't been good in a long time and the guys at FTH own them right now.

Disagree on CCH not being good in a long time. They haven't beatin HHS in a long time. That doesn't make them not good. There were a couple three years there if they got by HHS they would have won State.

Imo they have got to hire a CCH guy. With that said who is out there. Wolfe and Edgington?

I think Wolfe is to close to his pension to leave now.

Does CovCath really want Crable? IMO, he did a very poor job with all the talent that comes through the doors at Moeller. I believe he had an average 6-4 record over his tenure there with a couple 5-5 and 6-5 seasons. I'm not sure this would be an upgrade for CovCath.

Your entire post is invalidated with "hasn't been good in a long time."

I said the same thing. He wasn't successful at Moeller.

I talked with Bob tonight in person. Back when the Covington Catholic football HC position became available, he was contacted by parents/alumni to consider it. Which he did. Bob has experience in both coaching football and in business. His businesses and family have kept him very busy. While tempted by the opening, he feels that it is probably not the right time for him to get back into coaching football. For the record, he surprised me by saying that he briefly considered the open Thomas More position too. He could be putting up a big smoke screen on me (his former classmate in grade school and high school), but I doubt that you will be seeing him accept either of the two coaching jobs.

Thanks for posting that.

And to those of you that question Crable, in my opinion CovCath would be lucky if they were able to hire Bob Crable for the job but since Coach Crable doesn't appear to be interested it is a non-issue.

Last appearance in a state championship or semi final game was.......when, exactly? I rest my case.

I think you have a slanted view of "not very good."

So he has 1 year of freshman head coaching experience and 2 years of assistant to linebackers coach experience. Sounds like a can't miss and as a fan of a rival school, I sure hope they hire this guy.

Not sure you want this. Ted will get instant respect from the kids and they will go hard for him. He demands respect and gives it back if you earn it. That's been missing for a while.

If he can get a staff with some experience and maybe some new faces like Don Bieger for one, I would hire him in a minute. He'll bring a blue collar attitude and a toughness that is what this program needs. I had a coach from another team say to me, I hope they don't hire Ted.

Weak... name the other teams since 2007 not named Highlands who made it to the Demi's from their side of the bracket in their class. I rest my case.

I'm thinking Ashton Kutcher. :D

I totally agree.

The guys from FTH have owned everyone the past 8 years. By your definition of "good", I suppose you think SK hasn't been good for a long time either?

You have no credibility.
