I don't mean to be disrespectful but CovCath had an okay team in 09 but it wasn't great. At least it didn't look like a great CovCath team to me in the couple of games I saw them play (including the game against Highlands, and I feel comfortable saying I've watched that game tape as much as anyone). Don't think I saw LexCath in 09 but did see Ryle twice that year (Highlands played them twice). Ryle and CovCath were pretty close to one another but if I had to pick one over the other, I'd probably pick Ryle to be honest with you.

 

Even saying they were good might have been a little of an overstatement. The 09' football seniors really got a raw deal in the preceding years. They had 3 head coaches in 4 years. The first one was Rodenberg (sp?). He did not care about that class at all. The previous years 8th graders often began lifting starting in the spring of their 8th grade year. He did not do that for that class. I doubt he even watched their freshman games. Once the season was over he did not put any off season program into place. Then Brossart was next. Brossart was an intense coach but seemed to be a little over his head (I'm not talking about him as a coach not but back in 07 and 08). When Wirth finally took over, a lot of kids were playing way out of position. Close to half the team probably had their positions changed. That is a lot to over come, especially since that grade was short on depth and talent to begin with. Then to learn an entire new offense. You could tell just by watching that Wirth's 09 offense was much more complicated than the previous two years. That class also had a few key injuries in the preseason and very beginning of the season. I think Wirth did a good job with that class.

 

Now, do I think it was a good move to get rid of Wirth? I'll let you know in a couple years.

With all that said, then you have to ask yourself, was it a good idea to get rid of Brossart? The end results were the same with both coaches and coaching staffs. Maybe they should have kept him longer than 2 years to see where the program went. He has been fairly successful at Dixie. Or was there underlying issues with Brossart? Have no idea.

Agreed, and Brossart inherited a monster schedule from Coach R, so why fire a coach who had little to no control over a schedule that was already set? I see the same issue this coming season, a monster schedule that will beat CCH week in and week out.

So the incoming coach has no chance to succeed and then here we go again. Huge issues!

Brossart's strength at Dixie is playing kids in the correct positions. Maybe this has changed for him over the past years.

Bad loses: Ryle 2014, Beechwood 2014, Conner 2012, Ryle 2010, New Cath 2010, Ryle 2009, Lex Cath 2009.

Also you continue to schedule Ohio teams and you go 0-7 against them!

 

NewCath 2010 was not a bad loss. That was a very, very good team.

I believe Cov Cath demands you to win more than Dixie. I believe it was just the wrong time for Coach Brossart to coach at Cov Cath for many of reasonings
