Don't see that at all. Wirth is a Cincy GCL guy. He has higher aspirations IMO.

"Union mafia", " Turners Angels" "triple Crown Mafia" were all coined because of the "Park Hills Mafia" was already out there and there were comparisons drawn between the two. I think it was a very good idea that Cov Cath and Dave Wirth went separte ways! The following is why I believe that!

 

1) 0-10 against Highlands. Never made it past Highlands in the playoffs.

2) No big wins. ( Expect for Johnson Central if you believe thats a good win!)

3) You always heard his name when a new position came about. ( used car salesman. Always looking for the next best thing.)

4) The Beechwood/ Ryle/ Highlands games you had Seniors yelling at the coaches. He wouldnt make changes to his staff.

5) It was believe that he didn't like people playing other sports. Would work with them.

6) A lot of players weren't playing based on Coach Wirth

7) A lot of injuries either the players weren't in shape(they didnt run a lot) or they were rushing kids back when they were hurt!

You make some valid points, but one thing I would say is that the wins over Johnson Central, in my opinion, were very important wins, and I would call at least two of them "big" wins.

Not a valid reason IMO and wasn't a reason with the administration. NO ONE beat Highlands the past 8 years except for a few GCL teams and a talented Collins team

Yes- I would call those big wins- especially a couple years ago whe everyone expected JC to win state if they got past Highlands. I'd say beating this years 6A runner up classifies as a big win. Could go on and on but I'm tired already.

Yes- and this part was (IMO) one of the reasons he's not at Cov Cath. I think everyone has the right to check out their options- unfortunately it's a small fraternity of coaches and admins who talk

I think it's been documented that there was discontent between some players and coaches- though limited to a small amount of coaches.

This is not true. If it were you wouldn't see all the football players you see out on the Baseball or Track teams

Cov Cath has an excellent trainer. No one was being pushed back into service that wasn't ready. Now conditioning? Yes, that could have been better- I'm just not convinced better conditioning avoids injuries like concussions -which there a number of. However, I believe the reported incidents of concussions nationally has gone thru the roof.

Point being- if the trainer did not believe he was ready, Wirth would not override him.
