I think it was a very good idea that Cov Cath and Dave Wirth went separte ways! The following is why I believe that!

 

1) 0-10 against Highlands. Never made it past Highlands in the playoffs.

2) No big wins. ( Expect for Johnson Central if you believe thats a good win!)

3) You always heard his name when a new position came about. ( used car salesman. Always looking for the next best thing.)

4) The Beechwood/ Ryle/ Highlands games you had Seniors yelling at the coaches. He wouldnt make changes to his staff.

5) It was believe that he didn't like people playing other sports. Would work with them.

6) A lot of players weren't playing based on Coach Wirth

7) A lot of injuries either the players weren't in shape(they didnt run a lot) or they were rushing kids back when they were hurt!

 

Bad loses: Ryle 2014, Beechwood 2014, Conner 2012, Ryle 2010, New Cath 2010, Ryle 2009, Lex Cath 2009.

Also you continue to schedule Ohio teams and you go 0-7 against them!

Not a valid reason IMO and wasn't a reason with the administration. NO ONE beat Highlands the past 8 years except for a few GCL teams and a talented Collins team

 

It's a total valid reason! Cov Cath has the most talent of any school in NKY! Losing to Highlands because they are in better shape and better coached is not an excuses! When you win you get more kids to your school+ more people wanting to donate to school!

Yes- I would call those big wins- especially a couple years ago whe everyone expected JC to win state if they got past Highlands. I'd say beating this years 6A runner up classifies as a big win. Could go on and on but I'm tired already.

 

I say one win against Johnson Central is a good win! Dixie game isn't a good win! Cov Cath should beat Dixie every year!

Yes- and this part was (IMO) one of the reasons he's not at Cov Cath. I think everyone has the right to check out their options- unfortunately it's a small fraternity of coaches and admins who talk

 

It's okay to apply but when you apply for every job every year is not okay! Just shows your not happy at your school.

 

5) It was believe that he didn't like people playing other sports. Would work with them.

This is not true. If it were you wouldn't see all the football players you see out on the Baseball or Track teams

 

He didn't like working with kids playing different sports in the off season! He expect you to be at Football all the time!

Well duh- I imagine a lot of players WERE playing based on Coach Wirth too

 

One player was there to play for Wirth! I know a lot of people didn't like playing for him and his staff !

 

Cov Cath should never lose to New Cath in football!

All I will say is at least you have proved to many on here that the CCH fan we so often hear about truly does exist.

Top Ten Reason (not in order)

 

# 1 - Get along with Bob Rowe.

 

# 2 - Actually teach a class, class time is not film time.

 

# 3 - Treat the young men with respect and you will get respect in return.

 

# 4 - Don't hire your dad as an assistant.

 

# 5 - A Power Offense (strong running game) can win games (ask the NFL's Seahawks).

 

# 6 - Beat Highlands once in a while, never get beat by Beechwood or any team from Boone County.

 

# 7 - Stop scheduling GCL South teams.

 

# 8 - Play the back-ups when you are up or down at the end of the game (they deserve playing time).

 

# 9 - Freshman should NEVER play ahead of a upperclassmen - It fact freshman should NEVER dress varsity, you don't need them by the numbers or the talent.

 

# 10 - Stop applying at every job opening in Northern Kentucky (Dixie 2013, Ryle 2014, Boone 2015).

Covington Catholic has never had one of those Freshmen. I don't know about the Bluebirds' date=' little Colonels, or those Boone County teams. Class A schools are different as they simply need them due to enrollment.[/quote']

When NewCath has the better team, they should. Doesn't happen often, but they had the better team.
