Bowling Green isn't deserving. Warren Central is almost deserving but they still have some work to do.

That's debateable... I guess an argument could be made that they equally deserve to be considered, but then again their only quality win is against a Warren Central team that was still finding themselves.... Many of their wins have come against sub 500 teams... They could just be smoke and mirrors or they could be the real deal. Who knows for sure?

OHS beat Muhlenberg like that without Noffsinger. That said, OHS was without Miller. I think OHS is so deep the loss of Miller was a little less than the loss of Noffsinger. He is everything to the Mustangs. Dont get me wrong, the win is impressive but skewed a little bit IMO.

 

Daviess County is a team that could make some noise. When Marshall Griffith and Stewart Currie are hitting shots, which is pretty often lately, they are VERY tough. They have a couple of really good defenders in Hagan & Gilmer to go along with their scoring attack. Coach Hume has done a very good job of creating a system that plays to his players strengths. One very good team will not make it out of the 9th district.

I love that Henderson Co. is number 2, rightfully so! I can't complain really about anything on the list. Sure a couple teams could be moved up or down, but overall good. As a region 2 fan tho, I think Webster Co. should be in consideration since they beat then #17 Christian Co. and have only lost 1 game. Grant it that CC game is their "signature" win and that isn't as impressive now. However, Jan 30 they get to prove themselves.

 

And to respond to PatriotPride, Hoptown is better than their #18 ranking, but they have 3 Ky losses, so they should be there. They lost to #1 and #2 in close games and to a then ranked Southwestern in 2 OT after playing 7 games in 9 days...it happens. Hopkinsville probably is a top 10 team and that is why the game Saturday will be a good sign of where KCC stands.

 

I agree that Hoptown is probably top 10. I've just been picking to see what opinions are of KCC. I appreciate PP for his insight. I didnt realize that rankings are based on week to week performances.

There are one or two advocating for Webster Co. being in the Top 25. Well, they MIGHT be a top 25 team, but no one would know it. Look at that schedule. It's on the verge of putrid (in state, have no idea about the out of state teams they played). They have beaten some bad teams pretty convincingly, and barely beat two at best middle of the road teams in Hopkins Central and Mclean Co. The resume just isn't there. HOWEVER, they will have two chances to build it...and ONLY two the rest of their schedule as it's littered with more bad teams. They play Henderson on Jan 30th at home and Feb 13th on the road. Beat Henderson Co at home on the 30th and BGP will give them a little love, I promise. Beat them convincingly and they just might get a lot of love.

Who make up the committee that puts these rankings together?

Number 3 is nice...Letcher Central is a district game, Powell Co. is an annual game that has been played since 1976 (Powell won the first game palyed in Morton Combs Athletic Complex) My point is that the Patriots beat # 1 ranked teams in Arkansas and Arizona both by double figures, lost to # 1 team in Florida by 1 point, beat the #3 team in South Carolina by 30 +.......

Mostly from Beach Ball Classic committee, Little Rock newspaper, Maxpreps. Ask Scott Co. how good those teams are.

More correct than not. There is no true way to determine just how good a team from out of state is. Central entered the rankings for the first time all season based on their performance from last week.

 

When I see a random result against an out of state team, I usually don't pay it much attention. While it is often very true that we can't know just how good they are, especially for middle of the road teams, I think there are some exceptions. A few for KCC:

1. The Beach Ball Classic is typically one of the more high profile tournaments in the country. Usually one or two of the top teams from Kentucky plays in the tournament every year, and only once (1995 I Believe) has a Ky team ever won it, so you can expect the competition is very solid.

 

2. For one of the teams (Shadow Mountain) you have the comparison that the team beat Scott Co by 20 (Only Ballard in Ky has beaten them by more) and KCC beat Shadow Mountain by 13.

 

3. Most of the games from the Beach Ball Classic were broadcast, so if you had an interest to see how good these teams were, it wasn't all that hard to do so.

I was just adding some insight to as to why Knott Central barely won at Muhlenberg County, while Owensboro beat the Mustangs by 50. I think KCC was a very tired and road weary team at the time of their game.

 

I have no issue with where Knott Central is rated. I think the BGP ratings are the best and most reliable in the state.
