More correct than not. There is no true way to determine just how good a team from out of state is. Central entered the rankings for the first time all season based on their performance from last week.

Walter won't be happy when he sees your rankings and probably with good reason. You have omitted his Holmes bulldogs. Holmes has won 11 in a row with an early loss to Henry Clay by 12 and 2 other losses to Ballard by 12 and Bullitt East by 2 in the King of the Bluegrass. I guess this week will tell more about them as they go on the road to Mason Co. tomorrow and then play CCH on the road Friday and travel to Montgomery Co. to play Trinty in the Joe B. Hall classic Saturday afternoon.

Common sense I guess. They are no worse than 3rd IMO.

 

KCC could very well be the best team in the state right now. We aren't claiming to be correct with every ranking. We simply claim to be the most accurate.

Bowling Green isn't deserving. Warren Central is almost deserving but they still have some work to do.

He has had Holmes out of the top 25 for a few weeks now yet can't make a legit argument for why.

 

BGP got Holmes' ranking right at #15 and they'll have a chance to improve upon that with a strong showing this week. Their play right now speaks for itself. Unlike the other teams he listed, they have no bad losses and continue to win.

 

Why would you say I can't make a legitimate argument?

I had listed about 6-7 teams for my last 4-5 spots, and Holmes was the top team I left off.

 

20. Bullitt East picked up a very big win over Manual, and also has strong wins over Holmes and Wayne Co. One bad loss (Butler), but that is overridden by several quality wins.

 

21. Daviess Co has a win over Henderson Co which is a very big win. Losses to Apollo and BG hurt some, but the best win among this group keeps them higher on the list.

 

22. Williamsburg is undefeated. No great wins (twice over Corbin are probably the two best). They may be too high (or too low). If Holmes 11 straight wins are good, Williamsburgs 13 straight would seemingly be better.

 

23. Wayne Co has a win over Owensboro, and the only loss to an unranked team is to Southwestern.

 

24. Has a win against Henry Clay who beat Holmes. Lost to Fern Creek, but avenged that loss last week. Also loss to Collins in 4 ot.

 

25. Mason Co. Very similar resume to Holmes. Best win for both is probably Madison Central, but Holmes has a loss to one unranked team, and Mason doesn't have any.

 

Holmes would have been my 26 if I went that far, but their lack of a high quality win really hurt them (best win is probably over an up and down Madison Central team). Comparing their resumes to the six teams I listed above, which one are they clearly better than?

 

I hope you can see these as legitimate arguments for why I didn't rank Holmes.

 

I will say that Holmes has a chance to get their quality win this week. If they go at least 2-1 they will definitely be ranked, and will be under consideration with even a 1-2 week.

I believe I read that Knott Central drove school busses to Myrtle Beach and when they got back headed out to Muhlenberg County, which I would assume is a least a 5 or 6 hour drive from Hindman. I can't imagine spending nearly two weeks being transported around daily on one of those yellow contraptions. I would think that by the time they arrived in Muhlenberg that were tired and their concentration level was not at its sharpest. I know that sounds like excuses but I would guess any team in the state would be affected the same way after being on the road for 11 days and then continuing for another 12 hour round trip,

I love that Henderson Co. is number 2, rightfully so! I can't complain really about anything on the list. Sure a couple teams could be moved up or down, but overall good. As a region 2 fan tho, I think Webster Co. should be in consideration since they beat then #17 Christian Co. and have only lost 1 game. Grant it that CC game is their "signature" win and that isn't as impressive now. However, Jan 30 they get to prove themselves.

 

And to respond to PatriotPride, Hoptown is better than their #18 ranking, but they have 3 Ky losses, so they should be there. They lost to #1 and #2 in close games and to a then ranked Southwestern in 2 OT after playing 7 games in 9 days...it happens. Hopkinsville probably is a top 10 team and that is why the game Saturday will be a good sign of where KCC stands.
