Stuart Scott passes away

Featured Replies

Horrible news. It's amazing how someone you have never met or spoken to can pass away and have an effect on you. I feel horribly for his family. May he rest easy.

It had been long enough since I'd really watched Sportscenter that I wasn't really aware he was sick. How long has he been off air?

He was battling the c word for the third time. He's been off the air for a little while during his last battle. Not sure of the exact length.

Look up his ESPY speech. It's worth watching.

Turned my back away from SportCenter earlier today to put something away, and Stuart's Scott's voice came on doing a highlight for the 09 Tar Heels. For a second it sounded like the same old SC. It kinda jolted me a bit. It's going to take some time to remeber that voice won't ever come out of the TV again.

I compare the man to Michael Jordan, in the sense that he was a game changer. He will surely be missed.

It was a little tough seeing guys like Scott Van Pelt and Rich Eisen so choked up about it all.

Horrible, horrible devastating news.

Really tough watching yesterday and seeing everyone from Cris Carter to SVP and Rich Risen fighting back tears.

He made watching sports highlights cool.

Anyone else flip over their pillow last night?

I've been doing it every night for as long as I can remember.

It's funny, I vividly remember growing up playing NBA Live or whatever other basketball games I had with my brother, and when I'd have a player hit a couple shots in a row or make a big play, I'd always say, "he's as cool as the other side of the pillow". Never really thought of where I had gotten it until much later.

Stuart Scott (Tarhill!!) had such a profound impact on sport's culture. Amazing to hear how athletes were starstruck by him.

Eisen said he dropped a Seinfeld reference one night. During a break Stu asked what the line was from. When Eisen said where it was from Stu said "Brothers don't watch Seinfeld."

Stuart Scott was "as cool as the other side of the pillow" like many of you said and he made SportsCenter cool. As a kid watching him you just thought he was the coolest and to hear how awesome of a person he was, this is tough. IMO he took SC from an Outside the Lines type of reporting to the cool show that everyone watched. RIP SS.
