No, I never said anyone should picket anything. I'm just saying that 1 playoff win for a team that hasn't won a playoff game in over 20 years should lead people to believe the Bengals are now a top contender and everyone should simply forget about the struggles this coach has had for over a decade.

 

Everyone should be estactic with a win tomorrow, never said I wouldn't be. All I'm saying is does 1 win followed by a loss really mean anything? Isn't the goal each year to win the Super Bowl? There are 32 teams in the league and out of those 32 teams there have been 31 teams that have already won in the postseason since Boomer Essiason was the starting QB for the Bengals. 1 team hasn't won since then and it's the Bengals. So I'm confused with how 1 win followed by a loss means everyone should be satisfied.

 

Thats similar to saying a employee who is late for work everyday for a month yet on the last day of the month he shows up on time but the next day he is late again. Does that mean he should be forgiven for being late all those times?

 

I am apparently different than the majority on here Because I want more than 1 playoff win. Anything short of a super bowl in my mind will always be a dissapointing season.

Ive answered the coach question plenty of times in the past and given names. Not going down that road again because everytime I give a list you keep asking so not going to waste my time on that again but I will say this. Who knows if another coach will do better or not than Marvin right away, the real question is this, why keep a guy who has clearly did all he can do with this team and has clearly reached his potential? Why not give someone else a shot to see if they can get this team over the hump?

What is wrong with trying someone else? To say it could be worse is not a credible answer simply because in the grand scheme of things Marvin hasn't done anything in the post season to be worthy of anything either.

 

To to not learn from history and simy choose to repeat it is futile.

First, if Marvin gets fired, I will not be upset as I am not a fan. I have been defending him on here lately and am not even sure why other than I think fans should be fair with him. He is NOT a great coach. However, he is NOT a terrible coach either. The Bengals could certainly do worse and if the Bengals do fire him or he quits, knowing Mike Brown, he is not going to pay the money needed to get a big name to Cincy.

 

To answer your question HB, a coach who cannot get a team to the playoffs is clearly worse than a coach who has a winning season four years in a row (at least) and takes a team to the playoffs each year (I think I heard today that only 4 teams have been in the playoffs all of the last 4 years). HB, I know you've been around long enough to remember multiple 3-13 seasons around here - the Bengals were a laughing stock. They are now a winning, respectable team - it could be worse.

 

With all that being said, if Marvin is gone after this year, I will not be at all upset.

Marvin should have most of the playoff appearances, he has the longest tenure as a Bengals
