You are sarcastically saying it was the wrong decision because of the result.

 

Football is a game of momentum. Understatement of the year after watching this game. My thought on the decision to go for the two-point conversion is that under normal circumstances, it's about a 50% chance of success. With the momentum Central Michigan had in the fourth quarter, and the fact the Western Kentucky defense was in shock from the previous lateral play, I'd say the chance to convert might have been about 80%. Coach Enos made the right decision.

 

For Central Michigan, unfortunately the 20% failure prevailed.

 

I think there's a much better chance to win in OT rather than going for a 2-point conversion. I don't think there's any way that a 2-point conversion is 80% under any circumstance.

They had the Mo and had all, but shut out WKU in the 2nd half...but, from 10 yards out..I don't know that either would have stopped one another.

 

Part of me wants to not like the actual 2 point conversion play, but they had 6'5 on 5'10 for an all intended purpose of a fade/jump ball and it was just a poorly thrown ball.

Agreed. Hindsight is always 20-20 and all the armchair quarterbacks will always be smarter than the coach after the fact.

Every situation is different but I have repeatedly said I like winning and losing on your terms. It's why I thought it was the right decision when WKU went for two against Marshall and I thought Central Michigan made the right decision here. One play to gain three yards and win? Almost every team has at least one play they believe will get them those three yards. Why bother taking the risk in going further, momentum or not?

I had a buddy go Christmas shopping in 2nd quarter with the money he was going to win on Western -3.5. He has already returned the gifts and bought a fifth of cheap whiskey instead.

I could go either way on whether to go for 2 or not. However, I HATED the play call. I just hate fade patterns from close to the goal line. It is a low percentage throw and it is hard for a receiver to get any separation from DB with only 10 yards to work with.

I was traveling and had to listen on Sirius radio. OMG: anyone else think the two radio guys were awful? I thought when the Toppers were up 49-14 in the 4th it was the surest thing around! Must have been a lot of WKU brass that had money on the game and instructed the staff to win by 3 or less hahaha.
