What's up with the lopsided scores? If I'm a coach and my team starts to beat up a team I'd pull the starters and put the JV team in their, possibly freshmen team if their is one..this is just ridiculous

Just wait for it.....there will be somebody on here saying the other team should play defense......wait for it........there is absolutely no excuse for this........

Have to agree with most comments. Would like to hold out hope there was no press and zero fast breaks once up 30...great time for Subs to work on half court offense. Any stats? Certainly hoping a lot were involved.

Holmes blows out Taft, 105-17

 

Holmes scored a school-record 85 points in the first half and cruised to a 105-17 dismantling of Taft Thursday night.

 

The Bulldogs, ranked No. 3 in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches' poll, forced 52 Taft turnovers, including 10 by Hannah Tubbs.

 

Tubbs was also one of five players to finish with double-digits in scoring for Holmes, finishing with 18 points. Jynea Harris scored a game-high 24 points while Amori Gully scored 16, Jaynice Stovall had 11 and Tyrah McClendon-Englemon finished with 10.

If the Holmes coach told his team to press the entire game, then that coach should be ashamed of himself and apologize to the AD.

Running Clock whole second half, Jv played most of that half. Did not press entire game. Holmes does not have a freshman girls team but capable freshman play varsity or jv.

85 points at halftime tells me they pressed. True?

I think Holmes could have called the dogs off earlier. (No pun intended.) I have seen games like this in the past that could have gotten to this point, but there are things teams can do to not turn into this. I.E. no pressing, pull the starters after a certain amount of lead, several passes before a shot. It doesn't have to get to this score. I think if you are up by 35 in the first half the starters can safely come out. I don't think either team benefited from this kind of game.

Why in the world are we posting and bragging about this game??? This is ridiculous. I have a good friend that went to Taft. I know what Taft is about. It is filled with inner-city underprivileged kids with many other life hurdles to get passed and now they just demoralized on top of that. I just can't swallow it.

 

There is absolutely no excuse anyone can post that justifies this. Not one. You can try all you want. I am very close to the basketball circle in NKY, work with some Holmes parents and coached one of the Holmes players at one time. I have a few sources. No I wasn't there, but pretty good sources.

 

It would be tough to score 85 points in a half in a layup line! As I did hear they didn't actually "press" the entire game, I heard they still played an aggressive half court trap. Maybe so they could officially say "well we didn't press". But honestly, I could care less if they pressed or not. As others have stated, you know very early in a contest like this that the team is inferior. At that point, you work on as much as you can with the time you have, but with the respect of your opponent first and foremost...in these situations. Scoring 85 in a half...no matter what the reason is...shows complete disrespect for an opponent. These are teenage kids that don't need to be demoralized. And then to come on here and talk about the accomplishment...Really???? Most teams won't even post blow out scores on here. There is a reason that 85 points in a half is a record!!!

Bottom line is you know after a quarter how bad you can win...at some point sit in a zone with your bottom 5 and get the game over with. 85 points in a half is crazy. Unfortunate this game has to happen and I am sure the coach has no control over how good Taft is going to be but you can control the situation once you know how much better you are than them.

That's just sad on many levels...
