Holmes 105 Taft (OH) 17

Featured Replies

I just wanted to point out that Holmes has similar types players with life issues as well. Like I stated, I don't know anything about the game and it sounds like most posters weren't there either.

However, what are the kids supposed to do, quit passing, shooting, playing any defense, work on anything? How do we know if Holmes girls team didn't have plenty of underclasswomen in the game? Again, seems like no one knows.

We know.

Because it's a totally different sport? :idunno:

Awesome...Let me clarify. Why is the effort that athletes are expected to give even in a blow out different? Shouldn't you go all out no matter what sport your are in?

i don't care to hear any stats with a score/game like this. No reason for scores like this in high school...

Agreed.. why bother posting these?

Is this Big Green Horse in disguise? :sarcastic:

How about you guys bash the guy who posted the original link as well.

I could honestly care less about girls hoops and who win this game. If anyone should be criticized it is the enquirer for posting the story.

I was just getting ready to say that. Shame on them for making it a top story on that page.

It's not about the effort. You can apply the effort differently. What are they getting out of trapping, stealing and shooting layups after the first 25? You can run thru offense, you can try different lineups. You can make kids work on weaknesses and take them out of their comfort zone. Give some borderline kids some chances to run with the older kids. There's all kinds of things you can do in bball that require effort without running the score up. Every team in the region can shoot layups.

The trick is doing them without being disrespectful.

You can shoot free trows with the opposite hand and blindfolded, but...

We know.

Yeah, that why I added if anyone saw a scoresheet on the game to my last post. But like what was posted, it probably wouldn't matter. I don't like to see lopsided scores either.

And to be fair, there's the occasional mismatch that's really that bad.

If you're the parent of the last girl on the bench and she gets some PT, do you want to see her hold the ball at half court? Does that accomplish anything?

Nope! They deserve to play as hard as they can. I'm not saying don't play hard at all. I'm saying there are plenty ways to control it and it wasn't controlled at all in the first half. 85 points in the half. I could figure a way, without being disrespectful, that hhs' team wouldn't score 85 points in a half against my 4th grade team in a half!

I wholeheartedly agree with you here, and I would never tell my team to not score. However, with the 3 point shot, 25 down is not insurmountable. But we are talking about girl's basketball.

And that's the point I was trying to make!! IF your going to beat me do it at your best I would never want or expect anyone to hand me anything or take it easy on me out of pity!! Sports have taught me that!!

Now if I was on the opposing team, that would urinate me off. :D

Sorry. I meant after the first 25 layups (50 Pts). Not points. I agree with that.

Not all layups this game actually involved Holmes getting defensive rebounds, pushing the tempo, executing half court offense and yes points in transition?? But I have to ask why this gets your blood pressure up RC when I've shown examples of your Bluebirds walking all over my Dawgs? albeit a different sport. But you have not taken a stronger stance on a Girls high school coach at an all girls school exhibiting the type of behavior that warrants 3 T's ?? ( Didn't even know this was possible) But shame on coach Perkins and Holmes Lady Dawgs! !!

I told you if the football game happened in similar fashion (which I have no idea), then I would feel the same way. But that game was 14 years ago and I have no idea how that game played out...other than just a final score. This game happened last night and I have a pretty good idea how it played out in the first half.

If Highlands football team ran the score up on Holmes 14 years ago, then shame on them. I don't care who it is, I don't like it. There's no place for it in HS...or any level really! It's really just a pet peave of mine...can you tell???

Please don't answer with All A! You might send me over the top!!! I wish you were around for those discussions. I have a feeling we would have teamed together on that cause!
