I am back. Not being critical, but when I look at that list I believe that the Littles, Wells, and Fulton are probably the only ones to throw it 85 with any consistancy. The others were very good however. That is the great thing about high school baseball. You don't have to throw it 85 to be effective. If you can change speeds and move it around you can be good. Two of the best pitchers I ever seen were lefties that threw no harder that 74.

 

Also, Jarnigan might have forgot about Rouch and Cercy (both of whom were drafted & Rouch pitches for Washington now) when he was talking about pitchers throwing over 90. I have seen both throw that hard but they didn't throw that hard a whole game.

Just going by what Jarnigan told me. I am certainly not an expert on Morehead State. I think that he was talking about someone that threw consistently 90 or 90+. Not those that throw 86-88 and occasionally hit 90.

 

I can verify that Fulton was 84-87 consistently. I gunned him a couple of times.

 

But I will agree with you on velocity being way over-rated on determining a pitchers worth.

You really think JK,Brandon and Lamar were in the high 80's? I guess I never saw them on good days. I am not disputing it I just didn't think they threw it that hard. The Spangler kid at Powell last year probaly threw consistently around 80-82.

KIDS FAN , I gunned Williams during the sectional tournament when Hazard played Johnson Central two years ago, and he was in the low 80's. He never hit 85 one time. Maybe it was a bad day for him that day also, because I had been told by several knowledgeable people that he could throw in the high 80's, but it wasn't there that particular day. Sizemore was a surprise to me as well, I thought that he would throw harder than he did coming from hearing others talk , but he only hit 81 one time in the sectional game. Threw mostly mid to high 70's. He did have a great split-finger though, and that made him tough.

I will predict that this season in baseball will be a lot like the basketball season. HARD TO PREDICT!! There are a lot of equally matched teams (talent wise) in the 14th region. They are all well coached, so it will come down to who is playing the best defense, and who can keep there pitcher's health. Should be a great season!

Hazard lost Chase Patrick but have all other starters returning.....they also added Searcy who transfered from PCC and Durell Olinger is coming back out. So I wouldnt overlook this team too much.
