Not taking anything away from Bowling or Smith, they both should be good this year. But what about the Benningfield kid from Powell that pitched a shutout against Owsley last year? Won't he be a year older too? Just the same as alot of good pitchers in the 14th. I think it will be a great year of baseball to watch and see.

85 and 83 from 60'6"? JUGS gun? Just curious. The only pitcher in the 14th that consistently threw in the low - mid 80s legitimately last year was Quentin Morgan.

I was thinking the same thing. Morgan is the only pitcher who consistently throws that hard. If Smith and Bowling are both in the mid 80's, they should breeze through a lot of people.

I was there when Bowling was throwing in the mid 80's. He could last year also just had a very young team behind him 8th and 9th graders. He was really their only consistent pitcher and hurt his arm last year. Thats why the addition of Smith will really help Owsley's team. Wasn't a Jugs gun it was a police radar gun.

It was an actual fully functional radar gun, that has been proven reliable in several different court's throughout KY. Just FYI... Jugs radar guns operate on the same principle as this one(Doppler radar), and this one is proven reliable by the courts, and certified technicians. I would say it is reliable. But, hey what do I know.. :irked:

It isn't just the gun, it's the technique. For maximum accuarcy, the ball has to be moving directly toward the gun (same principal as the traffic guns - if the cop is off the side of the road, it's inaccurate). That's why you always seat the scouts right behind the plate.

i dont know just hard to believe. not many teams have two guys throwing mid 80's from the way it sounds you should be able to win region if you just get 1 run up on the board.

Oh, Owsley has another kid who can hit 83 mph consistantly. You have two pitchers who can get it up in the 80's, but the problem is....Everyone else in the 56th district also has two stud pitcher's..At least two!! It will be a heck of a year in the 56th. There shouldn't be a boring game! I can't wait! :flame:

I'm looking for Tre Congleton to step it up a notvh this year. He can track a ball in the outfield, and is capable of hitting. He needs to get his cuts in as soon as basketball is over. I hear he still holds the Lee County little league homerun record. Not confirmed, I just heard that.

Do little leagues even keep up with that?? It would be nice but the high amount of turnover in those leagues (due to parent involvement & then there kid leaves) makes it hard to keep things organized. Or that's how it was when i played in little league. Lee co. may be different??

I will ask him. I'm not sure on the # of HR's, but I'll find out. Lee County has an outstanding Little League, and I'm sure they keep up with stuff like that. That's kind of a "neat" record to hold.
