  1. Pikeville is struggling??? Aren't they 13-4?
  2. Perry Central 5 Madison Southern 3
  3. Sounds to me like the game was cancelled in the top half of the inning. Therefore, the score reverts back to the previous inning. Wolfe was leading 7-6.
  4. Did the Smith kid throw the whole game last night? Rumor has that he threw 160 pitches.
  5. How did Knott do in their scrimmage Saturday?
  6. Williams could throw it but he didn't throw 85. Those guys are few and far between. Here is a new one. List the best left handed pitchers in the 14th the last 15 years. Jason Couch--PCC Clay Salyers--Hazard John Deaton--Buckhorn ??????
  7. I am back. Not being critical, but when I look at that list I believe that the Littles, Wells, and Fulton are probably the only ones to throw it 85 with any consistancy. The others were very good however. That is the great thing about high school baseball. You don't have to throw it 85 to be effective. If you can change speeds and move it around you can be good. Two of the best pitchers I ever seen were lefties that threw no harder that 74. Also, Jarnigan might have forgot about Rouch and Cercy (both of whom were drafted & Rouch pitches for Washington now) when he was talking about pitchers throwing over 90. I have seen both throw that hard but they didn't throw that hard a whole game.
  8. There has been guys talking about throwing 85+ on here. Name the most recent guy in this region that threw that hard. I have to go back a long way. I am not sure that Morgan throws that hard. I have never seen him and I have seen him pitch alot. He is a very good pitcher.
  9. If Perry was the number 4 team in the region, how did they win it?
  10. If I am not mistaken, Powell Co. met a pretty good Perry Central team at least 2 or the 3 years from 96-99 in the first round of the Region.
  11. The next really good coach in the 14th will Be Varney at Powell. Very studious and has been a key member of the Hazard coaching staff.
  12. Anytime they wait till the last minute to put up lights they take a chance of interfering with the teams practice and games. I think Knott Co. had someone get on their field a few years ago fixing lights and caused a bunch of damage to the outfield.
  13. List coaches in number of years as a head coach. Hammonds--25 years. (estimate) Dixon--11 G. Combs--11 R. Melton--10 S. Melton--9 Meehan--9 Dean--8 All of these are guesses. Am I close?
  14. I think Hammonds actually has 5. Ron Combs won 2 regions and took one of his teams to the final four where they lost a close game to PRP.
  15. How many regions does Hammonds have? 4 or 5? Dixon and Meehan have 3. Gene Combs has 2.
  16. The key to having a good practice is to write a practice plan up before every practice. You may have to eliminate some things from that plan as the practice goes on but at least you have a script of things that you want to work on in front of you. When you plan your practices, it eliminates dead time.
  17. Just my thoughts, but Lee Co. is a little short fence-wise to be the best playing field.
  18. Didn't Knott's team get about half their players from Allen Central? You guys make it sound like Knott is the only team that does anything in the summer. There are some teams out there that stay together year round. They just don't get on a message board and advertise.
  19. Did Greg Maddox play for one of those teams? I thought I saw it on a baseball card one time. Might have been Pikeville.
  20. Boyd has some good arms. What about the kid from Rockcastle?
  21. My toes are fine. I just wanted to let people know the facts from someone that was there!
  22. Mr Umpire You said that the coaches of the two final teams in the regional tournament are suppose to coach the 13/14 all star game? This year was the second year of the all star game and the same coach from the 14th region has coached the game twice. He has given up two fathers day sundays to coach that team when he didn't have to. He has a young son and I am sure he would like to spend that day with him. In other words, the two coaches aren't suppose to coach it. It is a voluntary deal in which the coach chooses to give his personal time to help out players he doesn't even know. As for the selection of the 14th regional representatives in the East/West All Star game, the choice of player is much different than in years past. In past years there have been only 5-6 schools involved in the KHSBCA, a requirement of being on the team. Coach Dean, the regional representative, has done a great job in getting everyone involved. Now the 14th region has, I believe, 12-13 members in the KHSBCA. This is one of the largest memberships of any region in the state. When you have that many teams involved the vote may get skewed. However, we will always send solid representatives to the East/West game.
