Christmas Randoms

We save money every month for Christmas gift buying. We know what we'll spend total, so we just divide that by 12 & save that amount each month.

It's borderline depressing to go out & spend in one month what it took 12 months to save.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception is today. Here's a traditional advent hymn dedicated to Mary...

"Alma Redemptoris Mater" - "Loving Mother of the Redeemer"

Wow - that was gorgeous. I've never heard that.

And as a side note...apparently most of those guys prefer singing without shoes on?

I almost didn't post that version of the song because the no shoes thing weirded me out but... Australia... we let it slide I guess.

I heard this one for the first time last night. I didn't know I could still be surprised by Christmas music.

"little tree" is a poem by e e cummings. It's an ode to a Christmas tree written from the perspective of a child.

I don't normally go in for a lot of modern composition, but this is a really pretty setting for the poem.

"look the spangles

that sleep all the year in a dark box

dreaming of being taken out and allowed to shine,

the balls the chains red and gold the fluffy threads,

put up your little arms

and i'll give them all to you to hold

every finger shall have its ring

and there won't be a single place dark or unhappy"

My wife and I haven't bought anything for one another for Christmas for several years. I think I'm gonna break that vow this year and get her a purse she has been drooling over. I have no idea who Kate Spade is, but the chick thinks alot of her purses.

I have indeed secured the purse on the sly. Walked in, knew the path from the recon I'd done previously, had a pic on the phone obtained discreetly and when I went to the exact coordinates of said purse, it was not in it's usual position. I nearly pooped because it's not in the battle plan to veer from said target. After a deep breath, I caught the item out of the corner of my eye, verified the target by photo, and procured said item and got it for an additional 30% off because I waited until it was the last of it's ilk. Another Christmas in the trenches.

Excellent! You have succeeded.

How about a matching wallet? Or really cool make-up case or a lipstick holder to go with said gift.

I have a girl that used to work for me that is a single mother that my wife and I continue to help when we can. Her son won't be getting much for Christmas because she really can't afford it' date=',,,,,,,but I know something he doesn't know, and that has me absolutely giddy about Christmas even though I won't be there to see it first hand.[/quote']

Beautiful, my friend. Beautiful.

Listening to the Dayton Flyers game on the radio and decorating my apartment. It's festive as heck up in here. attachment.php?attachmentid=48128

Well, believe it or not, I even asked the girl about that, she gave me some wallet options, nearly the same price as the freakin' purse, and I said I'll pass and that's gonna be up to the wifey.

Nothing cheap about the accessories.

You done good, spin.

Does she like Starbucks? Slide a $10 gift card in the pocket for a cuppa Joe.
