December 4, 201411 yr Losers. I'm still a loser. People on the left put up all kinds of big stuff in their yard. Dude across the street hired someone to hang lights before Thanksgiving! The 3 houses on the cul-de-sec have a trifecta light show going on. And I still sit with the only house unlit.

December 4, 201411 yr Just put a candle in the window or something. You know what the worst part of hanging lights is? Unpacking it and plugging it in to see what still works from last year. Ain't nobody got time for that. I have basketball games to attend! :lol2:

December 4, 201411 yr Listening to the Dayton Flyers game on the radio and decorating my apartment. It's festive as heck up in here. LOVE the fleur de lis!
December 4, 201411 yr I put some lights out on the shrubs and we had some pathway lights that are pretty bright and instead of turning them off I used some red biohazard bags over them and the neighbors think I bought some fancy new Christmas lights. Ha

In all seriousness, looks like a cozy place, Getslow. I certainly wouldn't expect one of the 21st century's most heinous villains to live in a place like that.

December 4, 201411 yr Author In all seriousness, looks like a cozy place, Getslow. I certainly wouldn't expect one of the 21st century's most heinous villains to live in a place like that. People come visit here all the time and have no idea I'm capable of dastardly villainy. ALWAYS... keep them guessing.

I have basketball games to attend! :lol2: Went through that over the weekend. My brother and I went over to our parents' place to pull all their decorations out of the attic and put up the lights. At least half the strands we had in the box didn't work. The front of their house looks downright sad, even though it's decorated. We got lights on about four little shrubs along the front walk before we ran out. :lol2:
December 6, 201411 yr In-Laws are downsizing and brought us some cool LED Christmas yard things. So I'm pumped because it was easy set up and at least we have some lights outside now. Came home from the game and nothing is working. Tripping and resetting the breaker and the GFI, still nothing. So we continue to sit, the only house unlit.
December 9, 201411 yr Author Meant to post this yesterday: Second Sunday of Advent in the Catholic Calendar is all about some John the Baptist. First reading is from Isaiah. "[1] Be comforted, be comforted, my people, saith your God. [2] Speak ye to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her: for her evil is come to an end, her iniquity is forgiven: she hath received of the hand of the Lord double for all her sins. [3] The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God. [4] Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough ways plain. [5] And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see, that the mouth of the Lord hath spoken." Immediately makes me think of this section from Handel's Messiah. I love it. We used to sing it at our Christmas concert in high school choir.
