I do most of my shopping online most of the time anyways. Why fight through all of that mess when I have amazon prime and all my shipping is free?

It frustrates me that each year it starts earlier and earlier. Thanksgiving is meant to spend time with your families. Now people are stuck going into work at 6pm the night of Thanksgiving (and probably have to get there much sooner). Real shame.

Couple of my good friends work at Target have to be there at 5 PM. Quite ridiculous.

My wife talked me into going to Kohl's last year (I think it was actually Thanksgiving night) because we needed a new Christmas Tree and they had a nice one on sale. We got the tree, had to stand in line for 2 1/2 hours. It was the worst decision I've ever made and it will never happen again.

I liked it when it started at midnight. Now it takes workers away from their families which I don't like.

My wife's cousin is a Target manager. He's forever working through the holidays. I don't see it as a big deal that retail employees work on holidays. Nurses, Dr's., EMT's, police, fire, etc are out working too. No biggie.

 

I don't mind Black Friday shopping at Home Depot, Lowes, Pets Mart, Gander Mtn and Dick's Sporting Goods. Won't catch me at Wal-Mart :lol2:

Best time and place for Christmas Trees is Lowes and Home Depot, the day after Christmas. 3 years ago, we got a beautiful $350 tree that my wife adores at Home Depot for $129.

I'm the person who refuses to leave the house on black Friday; I make sure to have enough left overs and movies to conatain me for a couple days

Because this is supposedly the day that the retail profits go from in the red to black - meaning they are making bank.

I actually do enjoy it, but I also make sure to never go where the crazies are. I'm like at Office Depot or Staples. I want no part of Best Buy, Walmart, etc.

 

But I also haven't been in a few years either.

I hated Black Friday...it was semi-controlled chaos for about an hour or so when ever the sale first started.

 

-I've seen two women get into a fist fight over $3 Cotton Bath Towels

-I've seen two women get into a fist fight over $10 1000 thread count sheets

-I've seen a woman load her cart with all of a particular highly sought toy, and then try to sell one to other customers that would then still have to buy them from the store.

-I've seen a guy waiting in line for a TV huff enough whipped cream to knock him out.

-I've seen one guy pull a knife on another guy over a spot in line for a game system, then beg with police to wait to arrest him after he got his game system.

-I've seen a guy try to push a cart out the door with $2500 worth of TV's without paying during all of the confusion.

-I've seen people wait 24 hours or longer in-line for a Wii

 

-I've spent 100's of hours freezing to death on trailers and containers getting merchandise organized for the sale

-I've spent 1,000's of hours planning the placement of merchandise and everything involved with the sale

-I've been in a store that did $1,000,000 in that 24 hours

-I've been cussed by a customer approximately 15 times in 30 years on Black Friday

-I had a friend at work get slapped by a woman that was mad that 6 hours into the sale we had sold out of a $30 Christmas Tree

 

As far as people being upset about the sales being on Thursday and people having to work, I hated it too. But it's hard to complain when EMS, Fire, Police, Nurses and many others have to work every Holiday.

One other thing, it's great that everyone on BGP is well off enough that they don't have to shop for bargains to provide for their families Christmas gifts. There are a lot of people that if it weren't for those deep discounts, they couldn't afford to buy gifts for their families.
