My wife's cousin is a Target manager. He's forever working through the holidays. I don't see it as a big deal that retail employees work on holidays. Nurses, Dr's., EMT's, police, fire, etc are out working too. No biggie.

 

I don't mind Black Friday shopping at Home Depot, Lowes, Pets Mart, Gander Mtn and Dick's Sporting Goods. Won't catch me at Wal-Mart :lol2:

 

 

Yea during black friday,I've seen quite a few walmart cashiers saving lives,protecting innocent people from bad guys and putting fires out of burning houses...:thumb:

Mandated or voluntary? just curious.

 

At WM it was mandatory that you worked the day of the sale...years ago before KMart started running sales on Thursday, WM would either take volunteers for Thursday or let everyone work short shifts. But that was before Thursday sales started and Friday A.M. was the big deal.

Nothing like the day after saying thanks for everything we have; we trample, box out, throw elbows to get more crap.

But all these stores open on Thanksgiving is indicative of a bankrupt culture that doesn't believe in family but in making sure we're all out getting the bigger, better deal on STUFF.

Because this is supposedly the day that the retail profits go from in the red to black - meaning they are making bank.

Everyone has their own idea on shopping in stores on Thanksgiving Day. Take it from a person who had 3 people in the immediate family who worked at a retirement home, grocery store and a retail store. Very hard to try and sit down together for even 1 hour for a meal. Just allow families to spend time together on Thanksgiving. There is nothing I need or want that I must shop on Thursday. Black Friday shopping is crazy and you can get so much better deals on line. I'm done
