You're probably correct I was more pointing out that because it's at UK many if not most would overlook any perceived deficiencies.

 

Outside of it being a bit to large I can't think of any deficiencies. They are going through a major renovation, which includes turf, among other things. It's centrally located, parking and lodging would never be an issue. The only downfall is that the upper level would likely be empty.

You guys are missing the main point. As long as Bowling Green can provide a corporate sponsor every year, it isn't leaving BG unless Louisville or Lexington gets someone to pony up more money.

EKU has turf and it should be a great atmosphere for the finals sometime.

Just throwing this out there, what if the khsaa raised money so they could build a centralized stadium that could host most outdoor high school state events, with money raised going back to Kentucky high schools athletics

Since EKU has announced the building of better stands on the "Visitor's side" and the fact that they have field turf, why not alternate the championship games between EKU in Richmond and WKU in Bowling Green. Even numbered years in Richmond and odd numbered years in Bowling Green, similar to the way state semifinal sites are determined. This could start in 2019 giving EKU time to finish their construction project and after the new contract with WKU has expired.

 

Just a thought.

.....the KHSAA is secretly cheering like hell for South Warren to beat Central next week or else there will not be a local team playing in Bowling Green for the first time since the championships moved there in 2009.

Actually for the Friday games it was a huge nightmare, with Finals going on at U of L, the students park there.

Love the Bowling Green finals. They do a great job, the stadium is 100 times better than Papa Johns, hotels are the best, and the road trip makes the tailgate that much better.:thumb::angrybird12:

I know first hand they do. I remember talking to a deputy commissioner four years ago who was happy Allen County-Scottsville was in the 4A finals because of the 14,000 + fans who turned up to watch. Don't kid yourself that they don't care who makes the finals once we are at this point.
