Graves County opened in 1985, and none of the 6 schools that made up the consolidation had played football.

 

To start from scratch...and to have to battle Mayfield to get attention for its football program...that's coming a long way, baby.

Count me in as being surprised but I thought Graves had a good team but not good enough to beat BG at their home field.

I'm stunned. Heck of a game Graves Co. BG, congratulations, you had a run that will be remembered.

Congratulations Eagles! This is truly an amazing win for this program. I didn't think they could win, but all the spreads in the prediction thread saying BE would win easily, were not from people who had seen this team play. They are a very solid team that hopefully can bring the 5A trophy home. Good luck, and again, congrats. Go Eagles!

I am one of those that called a running clock. We all miss some. Congrats to Graves. You will never be able to get the L out of the heads of the Seniors but what a run they had. Anyone out there that roots for a team would love for their senior class to go 55 and 2.

 

It still stings. Although the future looks bright for Purples a question that we may need to think about is this: will coach Wallace retire? I hope not. I know it's not the best timing to mention it but thought came to my mind when final whistle blew.

 

When you fall off a horse, you gotta get back on it. Let this sting be motivator for the next couple of years.

The Purples looked like a deer in headlights. It was the worst case of Murphy's Law I've ever seen. Graves County played a great game and the Purples Defense played well. It was the offense that lost the game. Purples QB, Campbell Gott, had his worst night as a Purple. Two or three interceptions, twenty bad passes (at least), a fumble and so many bad decisions that it was (almost) comical. Graves County's defense had a lot to do with it, but it was mainly self inflected. There were at least 10 dropped passes. Penalties galore. Cody Crider is a better defensive end than he is a running back. Graves County was definitely the better team tonight. I believe the Hopkinsville team we just beat 50-0 last week would have beaten the Purples tonight. You can't win them all, but the boys sure won their share of them. Next years team will have a great nucleus to start another run at the title.

Get what a case for your multiple state title trophies? I know who you are. But with all attention on Mayfield, never heard much about Graves. Lets keep this about them. They are the ones that just beat one of the best teams on one of the bet runs in KY state football history. Congrats to Graves County.

I've given up making serious guesses, but I would be surprised if he did. I would think this might provide extra incentive. You'd rather go out on top.

Good win for the Buzzards. A program first. Still second best team in Their hometown but hey you can't have it all. Hate this for my buddy PH but happy for my neighbors
