November 13, 201411 yr Cincinnati, the city that is being recruited by every major college in America? Good luck convincing a Notre Dame recruit to come to Highland Heights. Correct. The only kids you may get to stay are kids getting offers from FCS schools and that's still a stretch. My guess is Murrer from CCH isn't turning down a Miami O education and MAC football to play and study at NKU.

November 13, 201411 yr The only one I know with an offer is Olmstead. Eastern Illinois. I would say Hoge is a candidate. Johnson Dixie hedger Dixie. Also big CCHS tackel and SKs Olmstead. That's all at this point.
November 13, 201411 yr Johnson Dixie hedger Dixie. Also big CCHS tackel and SKs Olmstead. That's all at this point. I knew about the boys from Dixie but they weren't listed by UK#1. Same with Murrer from CCH. The first battle is just the sheer lack of D1 kids in NKY. The 2nd battle for NKU would be getting them.

November 13, 201411 yr NKY and Cincinnati right across the river. You need 80 guys. There might be 4 or 5 in NKY, none of which are 4 or 5 star. And there isn't 75 in Cincinnati, and the ones that are highly recruited ain't choosing NKU.
November 13, 201411 yr .... Why are you folks still debating the ridiculousness of NKU football? Even if there were a plethora of kids in the area, which there isn't, the financial model is a mile beyond their current capabilities. UC, with their 8 zillion alums / students / parents / employees struggle with football attendance. This is a non-starter, yet every time I look at the college football forum the debate rages on. :banghead:

November 14, 201411 yr I don't care one way or another and I haven't read this thread, but would the non-scholarship "Morehead" model work or is that out of the question too? Would it work like could they do it? Yes. Would it work like would it make any sense at all from a financial standpoint? No.
November 14, 201411 yr Would it work like could they do it? Yes. Would it work like would it make any sense at all from a financial standpoint? No. As a non schorship like Bulter or Morehead I think it could work. Then they have to build millions in facilities. It would lose money every year. Even with kids paying. A lot of the D3 school use sports as an enrollment booster. Nku doent need that. 80 kids on a football team would be a small precentage of the student body. Less than 1%. Now at a small school they see this as an investment to enrollment. Most D3 school have 25% of the students playing a sport.
November 14, 201411 yr Would it work like could they do it? Yes. Would it work like would it make any sense at all from a financial standpoint? No. What, if any, implications are there regarding Title IX for schools like Morehead and Butler which have non-scholarship football? If a school decided to go that route would they also have to add women's sports?
November 14, 201411 yr What, if any, implications are there regarding Title IX for schools like Morehead and Butler which have non-scholarship football? If a school decided to go that route would they also have to add women's sports? That is a great question, and I'm only about 80% sure on this one, but I believe, since the first prong of Title IX is equal "participation opportunities proportionate to enrollment", them being non-scholarship football wouldn't let them off the hook. Great catch by you, and a point I should have alluded to earlier. Why on Earth would NKU, even without Clyde's great call on Title IX, waste the time and energy to build a non-scholarship football program. Don't take your eye off what matters, and that should be (first and foremost) getting MBB (and to a lesser degree, WBB) up to a competitive and FINANCIALLY PROFITABLE situation. Again, knowing their administrators fairly well, and knowing the situation over there a little better than that, I can't believe this would occupy their frontal lobe for more than 30 seconds. So much else to do that would be more productive right now.
November 15, 201411 yr Would like to see it. Absolutely delusional to think NKU could build a D1 with kids from the immediate area.
November 15, 201411 yr Powell, Moore, Ross and Vercheak all could end up having one. I thought Powell had an offer from Purdue?
