November 26, 201411 yr Why not just retire the dog from the police force? If I work in a factory and do something wrong that causes injury to someone else I get fired, not put down. Why is this any different?
November 26, 201411 yr Boone County sheriffs office has released a statement confirming that the dog was put down and blaming someone for leaking the story to the media. So they didn't want anyone to know they put the dog down?!

November 26, 201411 yr This is such a sad ending. I obviously have sympathy for the woman, but the dog was just doing what he thought was his job. It was his handler's responsibility to ensure the dog knew what the situation was.

December 4, 201411 yr This is irreprehensible to me in several ways: Both cases IMO relate to poor handling and/or poor training. To punish the animal for this without any chance of being sold/placed with an individual is wrong. This is an irresponsible waste of taxpayer investment. IMO, this entire county should not be allowed to obtain and manage any more animals period. They have proven that they are not fit to manage a K-9 unit.

Your response is welcomed You can spin this incident any way you like, I am giving general advice based on my experience with a number of disgruntled employees that have worked there over the years.

At first many would think that the dog may have been put down because of the lady the dog bit, but at the end of the article it said that she was upset that the dog was put down? Who's decision was this? And the sheriffs office isn't releasing any of the documents related to the decision?
