Looks like third region teams had the Colonels' number this season.

There is some good basketball played in the 3rd region, although we don't get much notice across the state. Not as deep as the 9th, but the top 4 or 5 teams I think would fair pretty well most years.

It was only 6.

That's what KHSAA website says, but how could they have been so far off? Not that it matters to me. 6 is a lot in my opinion.

I can't remember who but someone had Cov. Cath winning it all. Anyone else remember reading that? Was it dave Cantrell?

Hate to hear about the CC loss but way to make it to the Sweet 16 this year :thumb:

This was Cov Cath's game to lose and that's what happened...

Hate to see the season end like this, but so be it. Congrats to the seniors (Timmy, Joe, Michael, Danny, Matt) on an excellent season - you should be awfully proud of yourselves and your team.

#20 for Apollo was killing them throughout, but stepped up big in the last 2-3 minutes. Talk about going from goat to hero in a heartbeat.

CCH forced a TON of turnovers. Apollo had 17 at the half (6 steals for CCH). However, they only scored 13 points off of to's in the 1st half.

Bovard hit a 3 that would have tied the game with about a minute to go, but Coach Listerman called a timeout. Bad timing, but the right choice by Coach L. CCH was all over the place and needed a bucket...great decision, just awful timing. After that, it looked like CCH was frustrated AND rattled. Not a good combination late in the game.

Congrats to Apollo on playing hard and keeping it close throughout. Their perserverance paid off and they were clutch down the stretch & they made the big defensive plays.

The sophomore, Brown, for Apollo was huge for them. Also, #43 (forget his name) was the sub of the game and played great. He had about 10 points and 6 rebounds off of the bench.

Apollo killed the Colonels on the glass...that was the difference in the game.

As I posted in an earlier thread, I said the 3 point basket has never really hut the colonels. Well it hurt them big today. I don’t know if it seems that way to any one else but to me to took way to many 3’s. I guess they went by the theory “if you’re cold, shoot till’ u get hot.” But great season colonels. Great season colonel crazies. The crazies had the place going today, well so it seemed from inside them. The wave at half time was great! Good luck Apollo in the rest of your state run.

The road to Rupp starts tomorrow colonels…..

That would be Justin Little, from listing to the local play by play guys he must have played the game of his life today. He is normally not much of a factor. As he is only a Jr., I hope this is a sign of things to come.

Tough break, but good job getting to the sweet 16.

We just need more BGP posters from that neck of the woods so we can here about from Nov throug March.:thumb:

Congrats to CovCath for a great season. Special congrats to the seniors for a great season and great careers. Sweet 16 2 out of 3 years is a mighty fine accomplishment. Its a tough loss, one that will seem bitter for a while, but the pain will ease and you'll be left with the memories of a great year, great teammates and great coaches, all pulling together. That's good stuff.

Now you undersclassmen that will be playing football next year, tell Coach R you want to take a couple of months off from conditioning and lifting and that you don't want to play spring football as you are tired.

CovCath had every opportunity to win this game. They shot very poorly, and Apollo was able to capitalize... that is what a sweet 16 team should do.

It was somewhat frustrating to see CCH play the best ball of the year during the region, winning by an average of about 14 points per game, then have such a poor shooting day today.

BTW, the Apollo fans were nothing but class acts. One guy even came up to us after the game and complimented our section for about 5 minutes, and we must have received 15 other compliments on the way to the car. Not a bad group of people to lose to. Good luck Apollo tomorrow against Mason.

The TO which negated the three unfortunately turned out to be the play of the game. CovCath kind of melted away after that.
