Having experienced walking off the battlefield for the last time as a senior in the playoffs,being an underclassman and having watched seniors walk off the field after playing their last game , and then being a parent of a senior and watching them walk off the field for the last time, this picture touches me.

Seemed Cov Cath shot two ill timed threes near the end of the game when they only needed a two to tie. On a rebound underneath a player kicked the ball back out for a three instead of going right back up with it and possibly getting fouled. This was after the timeout had taken place and near the end of the game.

CovCath had a nice team this year, but after seeing South Larel, Jeffersontown, Shelby Co., Mason Co., Madison Central, and PRP play, the Colonels losing a close one might be easier to take then to see what might've happened in the quarterfinals. Nonetheless, it would've made for a more interesting stay in Lexington to see them advance. I'm sure they would've loved the chance as well. I feel for them though after having such a great run through the districts and regionals to come up short here. I really thought that they would've gone further. I still barely know what it feels like to see a 9th Region team make it out of the 1st round of the Sweet 16. I don't quite know what the key would be to do so, but I sure hope we can find it sometime before the tournament turns 100 years old. That quick cup of coffee is really starting to taste bitter. Congratulations Colonels on a fine season, and you still proved that you were by far the best team in the 9th in 2006!

Tim Tierney was not "a" top PG in NKY this year...he was THE top PG in NKY. There wasn't a game I went to that I wasn't impressed by his overall play and leadership. A great player and great kid. Looking forward to see where he plays his college ball.

Great post!! I know I get greif on here about being biased but anyone that knows Tim knows that he is a amazing young man and wonderful basketball player. Tim is a great role model for the underclassmen and a a blueprint of what a teams senior point guard should play and act like. He leaves everything on the floor and works harder than any player in the region. Congratulations on a great senior year. Hold you heads up high Colonels you have a lot to be proud of.

What an end to an incredible year for CovCath. This game does not define the season as stated earlier. Obviously tonight they could not shoot it at all. Add in that Brandon Brown (and Sam Cahill after the game) went home sick, Schult has a sinus infection, Dnoll was complaining of dizziness, TJ was coughing excessively, the Colonels were doomed. To the Seniors- You will be missed. Each of you brought something to the team that can not be defined. Don't hang your heads. Great year.

If these stats are accurate, I have to ask how can a team turn the ball over 25 times in the state tournament and win? I know CovCath shot poorly and was outrebounded. But if you force 25 turnovers in 32 minutes, what causes a loss?

Poor shooting is an understatement. And Apollo was incredibly disciplined down the stretch.

Just a little side note....the pictures from the Post and Enquirer read that #20 with Landrum is Brandon Brown. It is actually Rolle....I wanna say his name is Chris but I usually refer to him as Samari so I could be wrong.

If Samari Rolle played basketball for CCH, I would be his best friend at school. The number 20 in the picture is sophomore Chris Roll, an excellent player with a "money" shot from downtown.

Before the game the CCH coaching staff was telling the boys something along the lines of that this game will not be won because of the superstars but because of the "kids we don't know today but we will know tommorow" Their intention was for one of their players to do that, but the "unknown" who stepped it up was Little from Apollo. Averaged like 1 ppg in the season, had 12 pts and 8 rbs. I tip my hat to Apollo on a fine team and a displined strategy, and wish them the best of luck in the future.
